Sequel to the absurd drama that has trailed the gruesome murder of Olaitan Oyerinde, the Public Interest Lawyers League (PILL), has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), MD Abubakar to ensure a credible public inquiry of the Nigeria Police Force’s investigations.

Few days ago Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, alleged that the Nigeria Police Force was complicit in the gruesome murder of Oyerinde, and he called for the sack of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

Comrade Oyerinde, who was the Principal Private Secretary of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, was murdered in his home in Benin City last year. The police arrested Rev Ugolor, a well-known environmental rights campaigner, claiming that he was the mastermind behind the murder of Oyerinde.

Reacting to the governor’s position yesterday, IGP Abubakar called the governor’s position an unfounded, and promised to set up a committee to look at the Report of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department.The claim of the Police was exposed as a lie a few days later by the State Security Service when its officers paraded five young men who publicly claimed they murdered Olaitan Oyerinde….there are wider questions that the Nigeria Police Force must provide answers to here. The answers to these questions can only be provided by an Independent Public Inquiry, set up for the purpose of looking at the issues that the investigation into the murder of Olaitan Oyerinde has thrown up’’.

And the useless abubakar is still coming out to talk

He should be sacked,arrested,tortured to reveal his accomplices and then executed.

I said it, Police IG in deep mess, This is were it started from.

It is only in Nigeria that an agency established by law to protect citizens turns around to be the peoples nightmare. Anyways I'm not surprised. Its in their DNA to commit or aid crime. Just hope Gej does the right thing immediately.

The NPF has simply proven to be incompetent in handling criminal cases. I've followed Oyerinde's case keenly, and I'm yet to see any single element of professionalism and commitment. They are so relaxed, arresting innocent people,mistaking arm robbers who had nothing to do with the murder for Murderers. NO wonder Oshiomole has called for immediate sack of the DIG handling the case.Its however sad that Abubakar has shamelessly come up to support of his incompetent staff. God help us o, police has failed us

There is nothing like mistake. Its all deliberate.

Gbenga of Ait broght the police report to his programe, infact you be shock at how police wrote an unbelievable lies as if anybody that read the report does not have brain. It was copy and paste of diffrent reports without proper syncronising them. Them man ugolor challenged the ig and dig to come and prove him wrong, but non of them could say anything. I think everything is left to GEJ to do the right thing if truly he does not know anything about the muder.
