Not too long ago I was told that anytime a group of xtians gather for prayer (outside the church) an offering must be collected.

I am curious as to what these things mean and what scripture says about them.

Yes, but what exactly are they? I understand what a tithe is but what is an offering and what is a seed?

A tithe is 10 percent of your income.
An offering is what you give out of your free will.It can be any amount of money.
A seed is an amount of money you give for a specific purpose with the expectation of an outcome you desire. You are the one to determine what amount you want to give.

So an offering has no specific amount. When are offerings collected?

What type of stuff are seeds given for? Are they personal or church related?

A tithe loosen's poverty's grip on the GO or Bishop, as the case may be..
You'd recognize the collection plate by its contents- cheques, 1000 naira mint notes.

An offering is juts d regular collections, you'd usually be able to recognize collection plate by its contents too- squeezed notes of the 100 naira denomination and below..

Seeds is for those who believe God's a cosmic money doubler. It's spiritual lottery. You give expecting a return, the odds are usually determined by your faith... A mustard seed faith can move a mountain, so the odds are usually pretty high, if you get it right..

I have witnessed gatherings outside of church where offerings are collected.

Is this standardised or is this dubious? Bear in mind this is for house fellowship etc.

Offerings are given as part of a service and it has no specific amount. You give of your free will.
Seeds are given by the giver in expectation for something from God.It is the giver that determines what he wants to give.
I believe all money collected is used for expenditure and in ministry work. How the money is spent is a different issue but that is what it is meant for.
