@ OP Please ignore all the ignorant responses on this forum. A lot of em do not know better. There are thousands of Nigerians working in Afghanistan. Most of them work with/together with the U.S military. Some people say it's dangerous, others see it as a fortune. Tonnes of guys left the U.S to go over there. A lot of them without degrees are banking 100, 000 USD tax free provided they stay out of the U.S for 9months to the whole tax year. Some people say it's not worth it while some say life is all about risk. I know guys who have done this for 5years, made a fortune and moved back to Nigeria to start businesses. At the same time, i know someone who was a truck driver over there and an IED exploded under his truck. Luckily he's still alive. At the same time, there are people working in Lagos, who barely make 50,000 naira a month and yet get killed by Okadas on the way to work. Life is all about choice/risk. Every grown man/woman can weigh his/her choice and do whatever he/she likes. 4 Likes |

There are several hundred Nigerians in Afghanistan currently. Many are serving with the US military or working with private security companies and other service providers/contractors like KBR, DynCorp etc. There are also some Nigerians with the UN and international NGOs. There are also thousands of other Africans there. Until late 2011 when the US forces finally left Iraq, there were several hundred Nigerians serving with the US military or working for contractors/service providers and international NGOs. Even now that the US troops have left, there are Nigerians working with the UN or private companies. Iraq has the third largest oil reserves in the world and all the major players are there - Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, Total, Elf etc. Even in Somalia too, there are Nigerians serving with the UN and international NGOs. Work can take you anywhere in the world. |
