How Peter Odili Stole #100 Billion Naira. by Obele: 1:03am On Mar 03, 2008
From the investigation thus far, it is abundantly clear that the Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, is using Mr. Arumemi-Ikhide and his Rockson Engineering Company Ltd as a front and a crony for the systematic looting of the treasury of the Rivers state Government. The result of this relationship reveals that over =N= 100billion of Rivers State funds have been diverted by the Governor Dr. Odili using Mr. Arumemi- Ikhide and his relation.
Pls, Michael Aondoakaa (Mr. Due-Process) we want him to be arrested.Dipreye Alamieyeseigha is a saint to compare to Dr Peter Odili

Trust me, I am from Rivers State. We have never seen a fool like this Odili. Firstly he introduced blood politics to Rivers State. We never used to have electoral assassinations till this guy came to power. So many people HATE this guy completely.

As I speak now, my village is completely burnt down and desolated because this fool sent assassins (Tom Ateke) to my village to clear it out because of his beef with Rufus Ada George, who is from my village.

This guy is a medical doctor who is supposed to save lives - but he specialises in taking lives. God will punish him eternally and all his family.

And yes - this idiot stole like never before. If you think Ibori and the rest of them stole - trust me, that is a drop in the Ocean compared with this guy. Not to talk about his $80m hospital in South Africa.

The Nigerians who voted for this guy should be ashamed, the EFCC and other financial bodies are all useless. They have done nothing to him and he is still wandering around with our #100 Billion Naira, its a great shame.

People are suffering in that country, no light, bad water, corrupt leaders and no respect for the people, he should be locked up forever.

a while back when the electioneering process was going on and he was a pdp presidential hopeful a lot of us on this fora talked abt d crass corruption epitomised by odili and d way he wrecked rivers state but as they say " in every 12 , JUDAS" sycophants took there stock in trade to a grand level praising him to high heaven.

the gross under-development inherent in rivers state is due to a misguided, corrupt and utterly brutal nature of one man, but where is he? he walks free on the streets of nigeria with no effort to bring him to book by authorities. amechi cant do much cause he was part of d system dat wrecked rivers under odili

@ Pepeye, Amsky and Kokoruma,

The EFCC are already on his tail. He (Odili) is still walking the streets becasue he got a Court order refraining the EFCC or anyone else for that matter prosecuting him.
The EFCC have challenged the order in court and hearing is fixed for this month. In a nutshell, EFCC can't lay a finger on him untill they go to court to successfully overturn the order. Odili's delay tactics may work for a few months but he will eventually be detained, charged to court and given bail.

PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria (Reuters) - The former governor of Nigeria's richest oil state secured a "perpetual injunction" against arrest by the anti-corruption police in a court ruling on Wednesday.

Peter Odili governed Rivers state, which has an annual budget well over $1 billion and where most of the estimated 5 million residents have no power, clean water or access to functional schools and clinics, for eight years until May 2007.

The anti-corruption Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged eight out of 36 state governors from the previous administration with corruption since they stepped down in May, losing their immunity from prosecution.

Its fight against corruption in what has long been seen as one of the world's most tainted countries has won praise from donors and anti-graft activists. Investors are also watching for signs of how seriously Nigeria tackles corruption.

Odili's wealth and status make him a bigger target than any of the other eight governors for the EFCC.

The anti-corruption body has been investigating his finances and has said he is suspected of embezzlement, money laundering and gross abuse of office. It has been trying to arrest him.

Just before he stepped down last year, he obtained a court injunction preventing the EFCC from probing the Rivers state government finances. The EFCC immediately appealed against the injunction and that appeal has yet to be decided.

The EFCC tried to continue its investigation of Odili regardless of the injunction, arguing that his name did not appear in the document, but Odili has been fighting back in a federal high court in the Rivers state capital Port Harcourt.

"The subsisting judgment of March 2007 by this court is binding on all parties," said Judge Ibrahim Buba in a ruling delivered on Wednesday.

"Therefore there is a perpetual injunction restraining the EFCC from arresting, detaining and arraigning Odili on the basis of his tenure as governor based on the purported investigation," he said. Odili was not present in court.

"UNACCEPTABLE"

The EFCC's lawyer, James Binang, said the decision was "unacceptable" and the force would immediately appeal.

Nigerian ex-governors have sought such injunctions and some have obtained them, although in other cases the EFCC has prevailed in the end.

Anti-graft activists say such injunctions are a sign of corruption and incompetence in the courts and they have no basis in Nigerian law.

Nigeria achieved a ranking of 147 of 179 countries on the Transparency International corruption perception index in 2007 compared to last place of the 90 countries covered in 2000.

Odili's record in Rivers is one of the most controversial of all the governors whose terms ended last May.

During his eight years in power, the state saw a surge in attacks on the oil industry by militants demanding greater benefits, kidnappings by ransom seekers, political violence and deadly robberies by gangs armed with AK-47 rifles.

The collapse of government in Rivers was documented in detail in a Human Rights Watch report published last year, which said there was nothing to show for billions of petrodollars that had landed in government coffers thanks to the oil price boom.

Human Rights Watch obtained a copy of the 2006 state budget. It contained a $65,000 per day travel allowance for the governor's office alone.

Kobojunkie:

This is the same bandit that closed an Int'l airport for one year so his Arik air will charge the people he stole their tax the rest of their salary to fly to Lagos.

If a man can build his own airport ( and write NAF base beside it ) and close an Int'l airport ( now the airport is open, I can't see an evidence of refurbishment) why can't he walk away with theft and even have the effrontery to stop an investigation of his tenure which in itself should be an admission of guilt. I pity Nigeria . . . and yet some pastors are his friends. This man should not be allowed into a church until he returns his loot and does some time for the blood he has spilled in the name of politics.

This is actually very very very sad. How many Mothers that Man made to cry tears and blood? How many young boys he killed and ruined their life? Judgement must be served and metted out even without EFCC or any body. God the Righteous one, will definitely take his Revenge. I'm telling you, things are not right with him, very soon his downfall will be great.

God will avenge them subtly. Now OBJ's family are rocking it, wether they like it or not. When their sins now become exposed, thats the first step, we might even still be complaining but presently God is dealing with them. I believe in WYSIWYG, what u sow is wat u get, wether u like it or not. So Oidili is eating his mite right now maybe it hasnt been big enough, but he's getting dealt with somewhere.

How does one even get the courts to prevent the EFCC from conducting the investigation of a public account in the first instance!?

I mean, investigation of our public officers after their tenures should be automatic. Given our reputation in this country!

I'm beginning to think his wife who's a judge may have had a hand in this manipulation of the courts somehow!! undecided
