Report by Robert Lawson

Signals from the Min of Defence indicate a possible withdrawal of Nigerian troops from Mali depending on the outcome of todays match between the Super Eagles and National team of Mali. At time of report details were still sketchy, but at the Federal Executive Council meeting today modalities for the possible withdrawal will top the agenda with presidential aides already filing memos. Briefing news men this morning, defence spokesman Brigadier Sagir Musa stated that Nigerian troops cannot be deployed to countries whose actions are against our own interests.

Min of Information has revealed that the Federal Executive council decided to terminate any reversals in the earlier decision to send troops to Mali. Speaking shortly after council meeting he said ,"recent developments have made it important for us to fully assist the Malian people". Speaking further he hinted that Nigerian troops in Mali would now receive the full support of the Nigerian Government.
