Hijrah (Journey) of the Holy Prophet Prophecied by
God through prophet Isaiah, ISAIAH 21: 13-17

The above proof is dealing with propehcies concerning the children of Ishmael, and what
befall them in the later days i.e during the emergence of the prophet of Islam.Verse 14 to 17 are particularly dealing with emigration of the prophet of Islam from his home alnd i.e. Land of Kedar, Mecca to the land of Tema, Medina. Nebajoth and Tema, the children of Ishmael (see. Gen 17:20), inhabited Medina and its territories which probably
constituted the two clans of AWs and Khazraj. These two are the original inhabitants of Medina before the advent of the Holy Prophet of Islam as pointed out in this chapter.

The hearty welcome and support given to the prophet by the people of Medina is foretold in this prophecy. It runs thus:

Verse 13: The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye
lodge O ye travelling companies of Dedanin.

Verse 14: The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that <
, was thirsty, they presented with their bread him that fled.

Verse 15: For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword and
from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of the war.

Verse 16: For thus has the Lord said unto me, within a year, according
to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall
fail;

Verse 17: And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of
the children of kedar shall be diminished: for the Lord God of
Isreal hath spoken it.

The coming of the Prophet of Islam in Arabia, to the unbelievers was indeed a grievous burden as the opeaning verse indicated. Prophet Habakkuk in his prophecy towards the coming, expounded the issue of the burden in his book, a chapter of which constituted one of the proofs which shall be treated in due course later on this forum.

The traveling companies of Dedanin refers to the Arabs from the house of Dedan son of Jokshan, son of Abraham through his third wife, Ketura(see. Gen 25:1-6). These may be referred to as the caravan of the prophet's contemporaries. This has no significant role to play in this proof. The gist of the proof starts from verse fourteen(14) to seventeen(17).

In verse 14, the people of Medina are called the inhabitants of the land of Tema(one of the twelve son's of Ishmael). They brought water to him that was thirsty and they prevented with their bread him that fled.Who is him that was thirsty and fled to madina that its inhabitants sustained with water and bread? He is Muhammed(peace and blessing be upon him) who escaped from the land of his people, the children of Kedar(another son of Ishmael) or the meccans.(see. Quran 9:100)

The fact that Muhammed's escape from Mecca to Medina was along with his followers, verse 15 includes gthe Muslims that accompanied him during the flight.
For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war” That was indeed the actual position of the prophet and the Muslims prior to the Hijrah. The Meccans had concluded their arrangment to kill the prophet and subsequently get rid of his followers. It then became necessary for them to
emigrate from the dangers of swords drawn by Qureysh, and from the bent bow ready to inflict. In fact, the whole mecca then was moved with zeal of war. As such the Almighty God inspired the prophet to emigrate to Medina in fulfilment of this prophecy.

Does the immigration of the prophet into Medina mark the succe of the children of Kedar over him and his followers? The wordings of the prophecy in verse 16 says No.

"For thus hast the Lord said unto me, within a year,
according to the year of an hireling, and all the glory of <
Kedar shall fail."

That, after the Hijrah, and when the prophet might have stayed in Medina and had many followers wgo were ready to sacrifice their lives for Islam, that the prophet will march and conquer Mecca within a year(refers to the period within which Mecca will be conquered and not the staying of the prophet in Medina). That the glory of Qureysh shall be brought to naught and be replaced by the fame of Islam.

Verse 17 also is referring to the above victory with the
conclusion that : "For the Lord God of Israel hast spoken it."The God of Israel was different from the gods of Assyria, Egypt and other nations of the Gentiles. All the other gods were man-made gods. They had no powers. But the Lord God of Israel is the Creator of heavens and the earth and other beings of the universe. Therefor, the distinction between the Creator and gods worshipped by other nations of old was by the name of Israel. Thus, the Lord God of Israel hast spoken it means the true God of the universe has spoken this, that surely it shall come to manifest. And of course, all men of knowledge rationally endorsed the fact that the above prophecy has indeed taken place somewhere in history os Islam, and in face the most significant aspect of the islamic history hence the Hijrah calendar marking the beginning of Islamic era.
