what is so great about ex students from your school becoming politicians? especially when we know what politics is all about in nigeria? of course, his becoming a commisioner is more about his connections than his school. i hope you will still call his name with your school when he starts doing what all government officials do - embezzling. |
Re: Ex Covenant University Student Now A Commisioner by almondjoy(f): 9:02am On Mar 26, 2008 |
oyb: he he he he he he he. You nailed this one without missing at all. I wonder how one will rejoice about any thing about Nigerian politics. Obviously. . .lady Gamine is going to benefit from this "chop and go" politics. Please, you are dealing with "Gamine" of Nairaland. Political godfatherism with cultism as the hallmark. |

Re: Ex Covenant University Student Now A Commisioner by Germannig: 10:57am On Mar 26, 2008 |
Big deal? If you are happy that somebody (apparently, an unknown entity) from CU becomes am Assistant to some other person, then you still have a long way to go. Please key in the name of the appointee in google and see if you find anything worthwhile about him. That guy is only an Ogun state local champion, as no one knows him outside there. Nairaland is not about Ogun state, I suppose |

This one dont even know anything.Whats so special about Nigerian politics.that ur alumni becomes a commissioner means nothing. Is it not thru who you know, not by your brain. You better face your study if you are still a student or continue ur job hunting if u ve nothing better doing. Nonesense |

CU CELEBRATING A COMMISSIONER?CU HAS REALLY BROUGHT MEDIOCRITY INTO THE ASSESSMENTS AND EVALUATIONS OF PRODUCTS OF HIGHER INSTITUTIONS.WHILE OTHER SCHOOLS ARE CELEBRATING THE LIKES OF WOLE SOYINKA,DORA AKUNYILI,CHARLES SOLUDO,BARTH NNAJI ETC,CU IS ROLLING THE DRUMS OUT TO CELEBRATE A POLITICAL JOBBER(WHO IS GOING TO FEED FAT ON THE LEAN PURSE OF THE NATION) |

Gamine: Can't you see the handwriting clearly on the wall. If that guy graduated september 2007 , he should still be on his NYSC programme now!.!.! So if NOT for connection and the corruption in our system , how come he is working full time. He is a product of corruption , or a corrupt system. Talking of experience he has barely less than one year experience except he is a special assistent in the domestic department. Afterall the driver to the speaker is a special assistant to him in the transport department too 1 Like |

Re: Ex Covenant University Student Now A Commisioner by texazzpete(m): 1:15pm On Mar 27, 2008 |
Gamine: His 'appoinment' is clearly due to his connections, not to competence or any other decent skill picked up at CU. So why celebrate it? A University of benin alumnus was just appointed the head of the US Genetic research institute (or something close to that). Now THAT's class. 1 Like |

Re: Ex Covenant University Student Now A Commisioner by texazzpete(m): 3:48pm On Mar 27, 2008 |
janami: my dream is to make my mark in the world, to actually be recognised for something by humanity. Compared to that, being a mere community in a backwater, corruption riddled country is small bones. If that's your benchmark for greatness (and God's blessings) then you're nibbling at crumbs. Thank God Scotland yard detectives have shown us just what they think of serving Nigerian Governors, talkless of commissioners. Wole Soyinka >> Commisioners years after Adedibu is dust, Soyinka and Achebe will linger on in memory. 1 Like |

Re: Ex Covenant University Student Now A Commisioner by Nobody: 8:28am On Mar 28, 2008 |
Gamine: bad belle how? most of us got where we are by our own efforts, not because our old man knows someone. unlike your celebrated alumnus, we know that if our old man/uncle passes on or falls from grace - we will still dey kampe. our parents work stopped after we graduated. whats to celebrate about our parents pulling strings after we've graduated? whither independence and being your own man? if a position as a government bureaucrat( and we know what working for the government means - inefficency, corruption, using archaic systems and methods) posts is the best a CU graduate can expect (since you seem to consider it a cause for celebration) - then y'all were ripped off. |
