Bill Gates Did'nt Cancel Trip - Reuben Abati by cyrielo(m): 12:39am On Mar 19, 2013
In an interview in Abuja, special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati said the visit was rescheduled because of other commitment by Bill Gate.
The statement reads: “I have read the report in some sections of the media insinuating that Mr. Bill Gate has cancelled his planned visit to Nigeria because of the recent pardon granted some Nigerians.
“I am in touch with the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation and I can say that this report is not true and that it exists only in the imagination of the writers.
“The foundation said that Mr. Bill Gates’ travels are oftendependent on the schedules and availability of many other people and partners and that in this particular case, because these other people and partners will not be available at the time he is presently scheduled to visit Nigeria, they have to reschedule the visit.
“They also said the rescheduling has nothing to do with politics and it has nothing to do with any domestic situation in Nigeria. That Mr. Gates has visited Nigeria many times in the past and he will continue to visit Nigeria because his focus is working with Nigerian government and partners in Nigeria to eradicate polio.
“Nigerians should note that President Jonathan and Mr. Bill Gates have met several times in the past and the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation is one of the major partners working with Nigerian government to ensure that polio is completely eradicated by 2015 which is so etching President Goodluck Jonathan is committed and which he has drawn attention to all the time, an issue onwhich Nigerian government has done quite a lot.
“What we will like to reassure people is that those who are always looking for opportunity to pull down the country should realise the fact that this country belongs to all of us and that nobody will gain anything by trying to pull down the country.
“Instead, Nigerians should do everything possible to promote their own country regardless of whatever differences that may exist among us: ethnic, religious, sectarian, whatever”

Maybe he didn't hear about the last bomb attack in Nigeria. He is definitely gonna cancel it now! Unless the man doesn't love his life and money.

He doesn't have to go to Kano to register his presence in Nigeria.

@topic,

well, it's still the same thing, cancel, reschedule, all the same as the new date is yet to be known neither the cancellation was said to be indefinite,so both news are not complete, the only point here is that the cancellation or reschedule has nothing to do with the Alam's pardon.
That's all!

I just know that the 'political desperados' of APC were the ones peddling those lies that because of the pardon meted out to Alams, Bill Gates decided to shelf his visit to Nigeria and some naive-minded ones just fell flat for the bait!

Expecting this BS from him, at least that's what he was employed to do. Please Bill Gates, even if you still had the plan of coming please for the sakes of millions of tired Nigerians don't come , you can for the sakes of the foundation and millions of expectant Nigerians who rely on your financial aid to survive, just send it down but please I repeat don't come here personally to sit or talk with them for any reason.

uncle, u stole my work. it is a confirmed report that abati is a product of same sex marriage.
useless govt. can u imagine a country like nigeria refusing for the first time in history to show nigerians afcon games. upon that the players were able to win the tournament yet these bastards cannot pay the players. the fools are not even interested in the wounded players. even the devil itself will not be as heartless as these bastards. look at the killings here and there yet they are looking to come back in 2015.
how can nigerians be this useless seating down and watch them kill us one after the other.
it is a very big shame.

Abati the liar.

We still remember your fresh air lies about Patience Jonathan. Only for that garrulous elephant to show that you lied to us Nigerians.

We still remember your fresh air lies about the number of government officials that went with the President to Australia. The news media are still waiting for the documentation you promised to release to the true state of affairs.

You Abati are an un-repetant liar. Oga @ the top says he has cancelled his trip to Nigeria. Stop lying to Nigerians.

The PR team of the Gates foundation were just being diplomatic. That was a diplomatic way of saying that the trip was actually canceled.I am surprised that Abati who has perfected the act of peddling falsehood can not detect when he himself is being taken for a ride.Sorry Reuben, but why are you doing everything within your power to prove Fani Kayode right?? angry

This is a bare-faced lie. Haba!!!

You mean Bill Gates (who isn't a head of state) would wake up one day and cancel an appointment with a sitting president of a federation just because some people are not around to join him on the trip.

I will believe Abati's fairy tales if and only if, Obama was the one to accompany Bill Gates in the first place, otherwise, Abati needs to stop drinking from GEJ's toilet bowl.

Recall Abati said Patience GEJ was not hospitalized abroad and the woman came back to say otherwise.

Abati is fast getting another reputation for falsehood.

Who are these other people and partners that will not be available during his scheduled visit. were they not aware of his itinerary b4?. there is more to this than meet the eyes. Nigeria is unsafe for expatriates now, and the body language of the govt shows incapability to tackle security and corruption challenges.

Kx: Recall Abati said Patience GEJ was not hospitalized abroad and the woman came back to say otherwise.

Abati is fast getting another reputation for falsehood.

He also said the Manitoba contract was revoked, and it wasn't.

Anyway, Bill Gates would not come out to state his political reason for not coming to Nigeria. He is not a politician. But no doubt he has used 'style' to register his disapproval. It does not mean he will not come to Nigeria again, but a high profile American like him gets diplomatic advises from USA government. He has been told that there is wahala and not to associate his brand with GEJ at moment.
