Some Nigerians and their misinformation. Doctors definitely recommend exercise to help the mother and baby stay healthy. It can also decrease back pain and improve posture. A woman isn't supposed to balloon or gain too much weight during pregnancy so as to not risk gestational diabetes. Exercise does correlate to more stamina during labor and delivery. Some pregnant women say that exercises like kegel exercises make labor easier by being able to control muscles, which helps reduce tearing or ripping that is all too common with birthing women. Lord knows when I'm with child, I'll be moving! So, good for Kim. She's already said that she's put on a lot of weight so soon. Keep in mind that she's short. I wouldn't want a diabetic or fatty baby either. |

obadiah777: STU-PID HEFFER. YOU AINT POSED TO BE GYMING WHILE PREGNANT. ITS ALL ABOUT LOOKS WITH THIS HEFFER Its actually recommended excercise while pregnant by doctors. Its keeps pregnancy and baby healthy & encourages good blood flow through the body when it needs it most. Healthy active women deliver easier than ones who just lay about all day. |

Risks of exercise during pregnancy While exercise has been established as a safe practice for women who are pregnant, there are risks that can make it dangerous for some women with particular medical conditions. Firstly, the hormones stimulated during pregnancy have the potential to induce premature contractions, although the actual risk of this event has not been investigated. Exercise also causes blood to be redistributed from internal organs to skeletal muscle and as a result there is a significant reduction in oxygen and nutrient delivery to the placenta. Potential mechanisms behind why exercise during pregnancy can be a risk have been identified, yet there have been no studies that have shown these have a significant effect on foetal wellbeing. The major concerns include: Premature contractions can potentially be induced by the hormones that are stimulated by exercise; Increased glucose consumption from working muscles could affect foetal glucose levels; Exercise causes blood to be redistributed from internal organs to skeletal muscle and as a result there is a significant transient reduction in oxygen and nutrient delivery to the placental site; and Overheating will challenge maternal thermoregulation and is best avoided, especially in the first trimester. Therefore participating in vigorous exercise in high temperature environments throughout pregnancy should be avoided. |
