Gov. Akpabio Wins Governor Of The Year 2012 by elbinmanny(m): 11:01am On Apr 21, 2013
Obong Godswill Akpabio, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State will today Tuesday 16th April receive the Governor of the Year (2012) Award from Leadership Newspaper. He was nominated for the rare honour for his uncommon leadership attributes and unparalleled achievements in Akwa Ibom State, especially last year.

The official investiture will take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja at an event that is expected to attract the biggest names in Nigerian politics and administration.

A lawyer by profession, Akpabio was elected Governor of Akwa Ibom State first in 2007 and was re-elected in 20111, on each occasion garnering over 70 percent of total votes cast by the people of the state.

Governor Akpabio who was recently elected Chairman of the Forum of State Governors from his political Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a recipient of many national and international awards.

Unlike many other public officers in Nigeria who are said to ‘buy awards’ from groups, religious bodies and traditional institutions, Akpabio is seen by most Nigerians as an exceptional leader who has transformed his state from an unknown rural area to one of the most beautiful cities in Africa.

And as he steps out to receive the prestigious award of the Governor of the Year from Leadership, unarguably, Nigeria’s most influential political media outlet, a greater majority of the people would say, this was a well- deserved honour.

DAILY TIMES OF NIGERIA, on behalf of our Chairman, Mr. Fidelis Anosike and the entire management and staff, wish to join the good people of Nigeria in saying to the Uncommon Transformer, a big, CONGRATULATIONS
