Baptist Mission; Aregbesola Is A Gift To Humanity. by Dotman01(m): 10:56pm On Apr 28, 2013
The Nigeria Baptist Convention (NBC) has
described Osun State Governor Rauf
Aregbesola as a gift to humanity.
The Convention President of the Nigeria
Baptist Mission, Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle spoke
yesterday at the closing of the 100th National
Baptist Convention.
He hailed Aregbesola for preaching tolerance
and love among people of all faiths.
The convention passed a vote-of-confidence
in the Aregbesola administration.
Aregbesola, a devout Muslim, was
pronounced an Evangelist of the Baptist Faith
and conferred with the Honourary Doctorate
Degree of the Nigeria Baptist Institute by the
Convention President.
He was also pronounced the Commander of
the Royal Ambassador of the Nigeria Baptist
Convention.
Aregbesola, who was the special guest of
honour at the convention, urged members of
the church to always show love to others and
imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ.
He said Nigeria would be a new nation, if
love takes the centre stage in all religions.
The governor, who led all members of the
state executive council to the convention,
thanked the church for the spiritual and
material blessings it brought to the state
through the centenary convention.
Attributing the relative peace in the state to
respect for the values of all religions, he said
the people hold these values in high esteem
in defiance to the divisive antics of mischief
makers, who exploit religious differences to
generate crisis.
Aregbesola thanked the church for its
intervention in the education sector.
He said: “The demonstration of love without
discrimination that Jesus Christ came, lived
and died for all should be emulated by
everyone, if Nigeria must fulfill its mission as
a nation.
“As a government, we are similarly doing our
part by strengthening the Omoluabi values
that bind our people together. An Omoluabi
will keep the peace at all cost; he will be
good to his neighbours at all times and will
extend the hands of fellowship to a fellow
human being in all circumstances.
“The fundamental goal of all religions is to
make us better persons and keep us together
in a better society. Religious leaders have a
responsibility in bringing about a better
society. They have a duty towards God and
their human followers. They are very much
like the shepherd. They lead guide and
direct. It is their responsibility to impart
moral teachings and the values of God into
their flock.
Rev. Ayokunle thanked the governor for his
love and support to Christians.
He said the Baptist Mission would continue
to hold him in high esteem.
The highlight of the programme was the
decoration of the governor as the
Commander of the Royal Ambassador of the
Nigeria Baptist Convention and the signing
and presentation of the Certificate of
Occupancy (C of O) for the convention
ground to Rev. Ayokunle by Aregbesola.

I have said it that the day Nigerians set aside religious and ethnic differences is the day transformation of our country begins. Kudos to the Baptist Church congregation! Let's give kudos to who is doing a great job regardless of religion, ethnicity or party affililiation.
