OK_2_NV:

29BILLION NAIRA IS EQUIVALENT TO ABOUT 195million dollars and at just 2km that equals 15million naira per meter lenght which transaltes to about 100,000 USD for every meter lenght.

Was the bridge constructed with silver cement or are you just daft?

Man, you have said nothing. You were ssked to tell us how much you think the bridge should cost - and support you argument with references of similar projects else where.

ba7man: At least, if you add the money for the First Ladies Mission House and the Vice-President's House together, The 2nd Niger Bridge would be halfway under Construction by now. JUST 2 HOUSES OOOO....!!! BTW, I love the fact that they've started consulting Architects to design bridges in Nigeria, that means our Bridges don't have to look Ugly, drab, souless, uninspiring as if they were built by military men going to the war-front. Most bridges in Nigeria are very Ugly....This one is a refreshing Change.

All those guys saying rubbish are from those hell holes SE states where government is controlled by touts and okija shrine worshippers. Can they show us a bridge in any SE states that has something comparable? I dont see any of those gang stars turned governors in SE embarking on this kind of project - not in the next 20 years.

Thanks Fashola - Lagos is working, south west is working, acn is working.

The rate at which these id!ots gets heated abt Lagos or ACN is alarming! Infact, their bigotry had so eaten into their intelligence!
A little research wld av saved u the shame most of u indulged urself in!

In 2007, a 2km suspended bridge constructed in Australia was awarded for $115m in 1997(add the inflation price for today)!
The whole project, including a port is $2.5b.
Construction begins on 2km suspension bridge in HCM City
16-Feb-2007 Intellasia | 14-SEP-2005 Abc Radio Australia | 3:23 PM
Germany’s Bilfinger Berger and Baulderstone Hornibrook of Australia have started the construction of the biggest suspension bridge in Vietnam’s HCM City.
General director of Vietnamese operating company, Phu My BOT Joint Venture, Nguyen Thanh Thai, says the two-kilometre Phu My bridge across the Saigon River will help boost development in the southeastern part of the city.
It is expected the US$115 million project will be completed in late 2008.
Meanwhile, construction work on Vietnam’s first oil refinery at Dung Quat, in the country’s central region, will begin in November.
The whole project, which requires the building of a vast infrastructure, including a port, is estimated to cost US$2.5 billion.
Technip, Japanese engineering giant JGC Corp and Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas signed the contract with state-owned giant PetroVietnam in May.
The deal is seen as crucial in giving Vietnam energy autonomy.
Vietnam is a major crude producer but it has to import all its refined products because it has no refinery

The Tsing Ma suspension bridge is the longest in the world at 2.26km with a light rail line, it costs $500m in 1997!

Hope u won't commit suicide now with a $150m bridge in 2013!

Ignorance is a fucckin disease!

This is what I expect people to do, make price comparison, so we can know if we've actually been fleeced or not, merely shouting the cost won't prove any point.

Now, Lagos haters, show us a bridge comparable to this one and the cost so we can be sure of what we're dealing with.

Also the cost of doing business in nigeria is high.the prefabrication process also eats a lot of electricity. In Nigeria's case ;diesel.
Also there is an additional cost to building a bridge of such a length.
Note that the third mainland bridge was built for over a billion dollars.
This bridge is actually very cheap and is good value for the money.
I think this post simply exposes the desperation and lack of vision of PDP and their agents.considering that a typical nigerian bridge is less than 100 metres in length, this one is 13 bridges in one

Some people are just here to condemn Fashola. This short bridge will relieve lots of people working in Ikoyi as its links Lekki directly. I am aware that some of these projects are inflated highly but here in Lagos those projects are delivered which is the motive.

Can anyone remind me how many times Lagos-Ibadan road has been awarded to different contractors and yet today that road is still not fixed.

Haba, lets keep some credit to Fashola I beg.

how can you claim he built that bridge for 29 billion.. may be you have the figure wrong. the 4 or 5 bridges i show you from ondo state was built for less than 10 billion.. all of those bridge.

what nigeria govt need to do is have a standard for contract which most be use by all state, local govt.. And if that project is a bridge for example.. if it cost 1 billion..

there will be a maximum price it can be awarded.. which will be 130% of the real price. that way.. the contract makes 30% of the real cost of the project. the reason why it is 30% is that , any engineer, will tell you environmental condition are different.. so you factor 10% and 20% as profit to make 30%..

Sometime the contract will gain too much. and some time the contract will not make too much money. this is how they do it.

Can you show us the pix of the bridges built by Ondo state? We are talking about suspension bridge here, not just those traditional one lane bridges across 100m wide river.

Please stop calling that bridge a suspension bridge , that bridge is a normal girder with plenty cosmetic ribbons to make it look like its suspended ..Only a fool without good science background will think that that bridge is supported by those ribbon masked as cables

sorry that your governors has nothing to show for the time they have spent in government.
Educated folk, civil engineers and building professionals know that that bridge falls within budget and the cost is actually comparable or cheaper than what you get elsewhere.
also note that the bridge is the second longest bridge in the country

It won't come out of his mouth because PPD governors are too useless and incompetent to build any bridge to start with.

In less than 4 years, this man blessed the people of Lagos state with a monument that not only beautified the Lagos landscape, but also a legacy for this and future generations of Lagossians to celebrate and enjoy.

This single monument is now the most beautiful and important backdrop for lovers and photographers to document beautiful memories and important events.

All in less than 4 years.

God Bless Gov. Babatunde Raji Fashola and the people of the Great State Of Lagos.
