A military plane was on Thursday reported to have crashed at the Air Force Base in Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

Although details of the incident are sketchy, information released to Channels Television by sources from the base, claimed that the plane made an emergency landing.

Air force officials are yet to brief journalists as at the time this story was published.

Last week, Nigerian Army’s Alpha Jet fighter crashed some 37 miles (60 kilometers) west of Niamey, the capital of Niger republic, killing both pilots on board.
More details to come…

All these old Airforce, Air-molues,and HELLicopters, so many have crashed, One even killed a sitting Governor, another killed a DIG.It would seem the Nigerian Military has no sense of maintenance or replacement.please stop the Unnecessary waste of lives of young Military pilots.

Nigerian airpower is nothing to write home about.Obviously i wont be attending any Democracy day displays, In case one
of those Deathtraps falls from the skies.

Its true the military helicopter crashed right infront of my eyes. It was like a movie cos never in my life have I seen something like that. The helicopter fell down and the fire started gradually until the crAft got burnt completly and the fire service was just watching. Before we knew it, the missiles started exploding like a war zone. God so kind all the pilots on-board excaped. It was a russian man that flew the plane.

The bad thing is, if you've been billed to fly in that bird you have no option. Except a bigger Oga @ the top relieves you.

Gracias no victims. Pray your relatives in the Force never fly in those 'suicide space ships'

This is what happens when a Nation depends too much on tokunboh tins.
Tokunboh cars, tokunboh cloths, shoes and bags,tokunboh(brazillian/Indian) hair and now the millitary with tokunboh jets and choppers.
I couldn't help but shake my head in shame and despair(on behalf of FGN ) when I saw the 'newly' commissioned patrol helicopters for the Nigerian Police,at the recently concluded Police week, disasters waiting to happen, that is to say that at the risk of sounding like a doom's day prophet,we haven't heard the last of crashing jets and like somebody rightly said earlier, they should please stop wasting the lives of young gallant pilots with their tokunboh mentality.
