Kairoseki77:why are you people so deluded in thinking? Why must you attack islam everytime? Do you want to compare a 9 year old over a 1000 yrs ago to a 9yr old today? Even if you dont know much about history,am sure you have people around you that read classical novels,how old did girls get married as close as 200 yrs ago? Maybe 15 or 16,and they are already mature physically and intellectually to be married. So imagine how it was more than 800 yrs before that. Typical Nigerians, you cannot see the forest for the trees! There are two conversations that must take place here. One is the obvious one, the condemnation of Boko Haram's decision to take women and children as hostages and conscript them into a life of servitude. The other is the necessary condemnation of the evil policy of the Nigerian police to arrest wives and kids of suspects. This is wrong, barbaric and immoral in all ramifications...and must be condemned as illegal too. The further back in time you go, the faster little girls mature, abi? By your logic, maybe 5000 years ago human babies were like gazelles. They fell out of their mothers and started walking and talking after a few minutes! Maybe they were ready for marriage by age 3 and were old maids by 10! The 15 year old girls that got married 200 years ago, were still 15 year old girls. They were not any more mature than modern day 15 year olds. They were married off at 15, because it was socially acceptable, not because they were mature. Similarly, 9 year old girls were still 9 years old 1000 years ago. It is never morally acceptable for a 54 year old to be intimate with a 9 year old. Would YOU allow a 9 year old girl to sleep with a 54 year old grandfather? Aisha, the girl that Mohammad married, was still playing with dolls while they were 'married'.
