APC May Threaten PDP Dominance – Anenih by Clerverly: 12:46pm On May 14, 2013
Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Tony Anenih, on Sunday night expressed his fear of the opposition parties’ merger before chiefs of the ruling party.

Anenih told the governors, federal lawmakers and state chairmen of the PDP from the South-South geo-political zone, in Asaba, Delta State, that the opposition political parties congregating under the All Progressives Congress banner might be a threat to the PDP hegemony.

“We must not live under the illusion that our party is invulnerable. Although, the existing opposition parties are still too small, fragile and sectional, we must not ignore the possibility that a merger of these parties may constitute a threat to our current dominance of the political terrain,” Anenih told his party men.

The APC, an initiative of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Congress for Progressive Change, All Nigeria Peoples Party and a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, has the avowed mission to dislodge the PDP from power come 2015.

Before now, Chairman of the PDP, Bamanga Tukur, had derided the merger, saying selfish ambition would create division among the merging parties.

The PDP BoT chairman also said that the opposition parties had hijacked the Nigerian Governors’ Forum hence the need for party members to rally round the PDP governors’ forum chaired by the Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio.

Give us free and fair election and the SW and the North will flush you totally out of power becos this 2 regions have been totally abandoned by Gej and pdp.

No doubt PDP is not at ease with the birth of APC. This goes a long way in Nigeria's politics, because a strong opposition helps to put the ruling party at work which has never been. You will wonder why the present SW governors are working extensively, since they know they will be booted out if they perform less.

God bless Nigeria.

Finally the old man has woke up from sleep after what Oshio did to him in Edo state. PDP can fold their arms, consider themselves as insurmountable and see what will happen in 2015.

Of course he is. One may not like Anenih but only fools will think the longevity of his kind is down to anything other the fact that they know how to play the game and play Nigerians better than most. At the end of the day, Anenih knows the score and has seen it all unlike the clueless rabble-rousers on this forum and their emptily garrulous mentors like Okupe, Metuh, Tukur et al.

Anenih has recently come away from a crushing defeat in Edo where his candidate was despatched with ease by a people who deem Oshiomhole to be a good guy. Can we forget Edo used to be under the control of Anenih and PDP? Yet things changed because Edo folks saw a Nigerian "good guy" in Oshiomhole and chose to go with him, in the face of PDP misrule, and they have not looked back since then.

Same played out across the SW. It is an omen for 2015. Anenih, more than others, will appreciate issues are about more than using empty braggadocio to hide fear as we see the likes of Insecure9gerian and his co-travellers do here daily. Of course the APC is a Party to fear. The reality is only too obvious to those who do not fool themselves. My brother, forget Nairaland noise. The reality is that a Party hosting a formidable congregation of individuals all Nigerians, from all corners of the Nation, deem to be good guys, performers and meritoriously deserving achievers is not to be dismissed by any serious-minded person. Anenih has been a direct victim of this notion and can therefore not join other fools to dance foolishly and bask in self-deceit.

I do believe the Party merger may help make the political terrain more competitive and hence aid better Governance. PDP, surely needs to have her wings cut; an elephant like APC may provide the political presence and clout that would help reduce the effectiveness of the PDP rigging machinery.

However, in as much as APC should strongly contest for the Presidential seat, i think it should pay more attention to winning as many Governor-seats and House-Assembly seats as possible, the revolution of APC needs to be gradual and not totally hinged on the Presidential seat. It is also very important that APC's cause shouldn't be viewed as the Northern cause. If APC can overcome and downplay the North's quest for the presidency by 2015 by presenting a non-Northerner as their Presidential candidate then PDP is really going to shiver.
Re: APC May Threaten PDP Dominance – Anenih by Abraham2013(m): 6:16pm On May 14, 2013
I have said b4 and I will say it again, no northerner will rule Nigeria 4 d next 30yrs. So any party dat has a northerner as dere presidential candidate has already started losing. This is because all d problems Nigeria is facing 2day is as a result of mistakes our past leaders hav made of which 85% r northerners.
