Its a gas/carbon monoxide detector.Listen to what some people have to say about it.

I ordered this detector for my elderly mother who lives alone and uses a gas cooker. She started to turn on a gas tap whilst leaving the gas unlit, and we discussed with her how best to deal with this dangerous situation. She finally agreed that i could research some gas detectors for her. I was somewhat concerned that she may come to rely on the detector to let her know if she had turned on the gas tap without lighting it, rather than checking the cooker herself. However, this has proved to be an amazing gadget which is ever so sensitive. She telephoned me a month or so after installation rather panicked saying that the alarm was making a very loud noise and she couldn't understand why. I asked that she open her door and also check her gas taps. Sure enough she had left a gas tap slightly on without it being lit. The alarm stopped sounding and she was pleased we had managed to prevent her causing severe damage to herself and her neighbours. The gadget comes with installation details, and my mother does feel safer - as do my family and i.

Both my wife and I could smell gas in our kitchen after repairs were carried out to our gas boiler. Nobody in our family would believe us when we said there was a leak. I then bought a Gas Detector and set it up in the kitchen. Almost immediately it detected gas. The fitter came out and finally found the leak. A nut had not been fully screwed up. He was so impressed with the detector that he was going to get one himself.
To my mind buying the detector was a life saver.
Many thanks

More stories ....

My wife smelled gas I didn't. Bought this to prove her wrong but in less than 30 seconds after warming up it proved her right!!!

With the recent news stories about Carbon Monoxide poisoning, I thought it would be a good idea to get one of these and i did. It can be wall mounted, but we have it on a shelf in the kitchen, so it is central to the gas boiler and cooker for extra peace of mind.

The alarm certainly works. Not only with household gas: I broke a bottle of red wine and 10 minutes into the clear up operation the alarm went off. I switched it off and left it for a while. Switched it on again and it went off again. So, not only will I safeguard myself from household gas, I will also lessen the chances of being overcome by alcohol fumes!
