Bauchi — Four persons have been burnt to death while five others sustained injuries in a fatal road accident that occurred in Kari village in Darazo local government area of Bauchi State.

Sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Sector Commission Henry Sunday Olatunji confirmed the incident, saying it involved a commercial Toyota Hiace bus and a Mercedes Benz 190.

He said the incident involved nine persons, among them eight male and a female, saying of the number four were burnt beyond recognition and the remaining five sustained injuries.

Olatunji also said the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps rescued the victims and evacuated all the causalities including the corpses to Darazo General Hospital while all those injured were taken to Soro Hospital.

He attributed the cause of the accident to over speeding and reckless driving and advised motorists to ensure that they observe traffic rules and regulations at all time in order to save their lives and those of passengers.

Auto crashes are not new to people living in that area. I have lived in Bauchi before; Yelwa Makaranta to be precise. They pack themselves in a cab like sardine. A cab can carry about 10 passengers and the driver would be on top speed. When such a thing happens, they say that's how God wants it. Can you imagine that?

It saddens me that for every accident we read about, the FRSC always attributes it to overspeeding and reckless driving. We find a reason to blame for every mishap while we do not deem it right to do anything about it. Is it not part of FRSC's mandate to guard against overspeeding and reckless driving? What has FRSC done about drivers who drive against traffic (one way), or about overloaded vehicles? the only thing FRSC is good at is checking fire extinguishers, drivers licence and reflective triangle as if they do not know that even a cow can procure a driver's license in Nigeria. It is so sad that people die like animals daily and all we want to do is to find something or someone to blame. God help us. For the dead, may their souls RIP

Did you observe what is happening in our days? Humans are dying
More than animals. Sign of end time! I keep telling people that we
Might go and meet Jesus Christ one day if his coming tarry. So, prepare
Yourself for eternity.

As for the dead, may their soul RIP.
