DailyPost has gathered that the House of Representatives did not receive an official communication on the last Tuesday’s declaration of state of emergency in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states.

This was disclosed by Representative Victor Ogene (APGA-Anambra), the Deputy Chairman, House committee on Media and Public Affairs, at a news conference in Abuja.

Ogene however stated that it was too early for anyone to say that Jonathan was in breach of the constitution for not communicating to the National Assembly its decision on the matter.

He encouraged the need for collaboration between the three arms of government in order to restore peace and stability to the region.

“As bastion of democracy, the National Assembly is desirous of sustaining and maintaining all democratic structures in the country,” he said.

“The retention of democratic structures in the affected states, in spite of the state of emergency, was the outcome of discussion between the executive and the leadership of the assembly.”

Meanwhile, the House has approved N259.6 billion budget for the Federal Capital Territory for the 2013 fiscal year, with N160.4 billion earmarked for capital projects, N48.6 billion for personnel costs and N50.5 billion for overhead costs.

We have drastically reduced our president and have made him so powerless that he had to quote the section of the constitution empowering him as president of the federal republic of Nigeria before announcing the emergency rule in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

Jonathan is the president and he must act accordingly. He only needs to communicate his decision to the house.He has got some executive decisions to take especially in the best interest on our dear country.

We cannot negotiate with terror. And we cannot politicize the rule neither are the law makers going to debate or vote yah or nay. We have got BH members, supporters and sympathizers within NASS.
