9jadelta: okwaraji was just an average player, he becomes legend because he died playing for his country. Nigeria vs india is a false story we keep telling ourselves till we forget the realityTo you he was just an average player. Do I smell jealousy here? What have you or your father done for your family talkless of your country? |

It is not enough for us to lament and ask why our government fails to accord due honor to past heroes. We will ask and cry from now till kingdom come and nothing will be done. Why don't we take it into out hands to honor these legends in a most befitting manner? That way we will show our government how it is done and remind them to their shame that we are the next generation Nigeria eagerly awaits. 1 Like |

I remember some years back when i travelled to my village in Orlu. My parents showed me Sam Okwaraji 's house in Umudioka, not really a far distance to my village. Indeed he was a hero and a true son of Orlu. RIP Nwanne m Nwoke! |

Nigeria vs india is a false story we keep telling ourselves till we forget the reality Hey, okwaraji was not just an average player, he was actually one of nigeria's best of all time, in that team he was a major player that penetrates opponents defense to create chances and he scores very well. RIP Sam! |

Nigeria vs india is a false story we keep telling ourselves till we forget the reality What have you won in your life? A Belgian club paid $500,000 in 1980s for Sam while Man U with deeper pocket paid €1.2m for Eric Cantona in 1992. The first black player to command £1 million was Justin Fashanu, John's brother in 1980s and Sam commanded $500k straight from Africa, do u think Oyibos like to throw away money? He played for AS Roma. 2 Likes |

I was too young then but I escorted the motorcade that brought his corpse from the Enugu airport to his residence at Ugbene, Abakpa where his family house is. This should be around 1988 or 1989. RIP Big Sam! 1 Like |

Wow...I never knew he had two degrees. What a legend! Better they didn't because it would have been a real shame tantamount to making him turn in His grave. I hear that place is dilapidated and a hide-out for criminals now. When the Nigerian govt/sport ministry decides to renovate and put the stadium back into use then I can support such honor. 1 Like |

I still remember Sam Okwaraji. He was a complete 'soccerer'. He reminded me of Ruud Gullit. He was a great footballer. 1 Like |

AbuMikey:. You missed. He was very gracious. Mercurial and super talented. Not today's half-baked players. Sam was unique. Nigeria's loss. Unfortunately, he died for nothing. Where's the patriotism today? |
