Northern Emirs Killed Sardauna, Not Ibos by anti9JA: 5:19pm On May 19, 2013
The greatest which has caused more destruction than all known wars anywhere, is class hatred.

Thus, guns do not in themselves kill but human being kills for multitude of different reasons which include class hatred, envy, momentary madness cum fanaticism.

27 years behind the first puppet head military core which toppled the first civilian government where the almighty Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahamadu Bello lost his life in the small hours of January 15, 1966, the event still remain a mystery till today.

Wherever might be the truth and the reason of the Coup, efforts has been given in the writing of Nigerian history to describe the January, 1966 coup as an Ibo coup in all intent and purposes.

Historical revelation in recent times, however, identified the root of the crisis which threatened the unity of Nigeria to the tumultuous power tussle between the northern emirs and the late Northern premier, Alhaji Sir Ahamdu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto.

According to revelations, the 1966 coup which set the fatal change of the event in Nigeria was a coup by the northern emirs against the premier of the north, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello.

The revelation which suppose to be the top issue in the agenda of the recently concluded national debate on federalism and nation building was to be sponsored by one of the former head of state. News Enquiry learnt.

In the contention, it was alleged that the Former of Head of State (name witheld) traced the root of Nigeria political crisis to the north and argued that the Ibos or the southerners did not planned to kill the Sardauna, but the northern Emirs ganged up and headed and handed over the premier to the military boys who gunned him down.

The said Head of State, News Enquiry further learnt, refused to turn up for the conference at Abuja on hearing that the issue was removed from the agenda.

It could be recalled that four former Heads of State were to anchor the National conference on Federalism and Nation building. They were Retired General Obasanjo, Major General Mohammadu Buhari, Alhaji Shehu Shagari and General Gowon RTD as Chairman respectively.

The conclusion of the conference without some Heads of State in attendance NewsEnquiry learnt has compelled some segment of Politicians in the Country to rekindle the issue in protest seeking for a redress. What appears like an act of anti-federalism squad argued that before Nigeria could attain a healthy federalism system without the urge for disintegration, the people must know where they took off and where they are going.

The caucus in the new Political Squad recalled that the Southerners in those days were known to be the best Champion of one Nigerian Federation while the threat to secede from Nigeria was by the North (Araba).

The squad hold strongly that the issue was not discussed rather swept under the carpet during the Federalism and nation building conference in Abuja.

The new political order shows that the Southern States have widened and close Political rank to resist any of additional bemoaning, adding that the Ibos were made the universal scape-goat over Nigerian first coup which later resulted to civil war.

Tracing history, NewsEnquiry learnt that the Southern Political caucus has revealed through pamphlets in circulation that the 1966 Coup was a spill-over of bad blood which existed between the late Sardauna of Sokoto and the Late Sultan was not a happy horror to reflect However, it arose from the battle to occupy the Sultanate throne of Sokoto following the death of the then Sultan Sir. Alhaji Hassan.

History shows that Alhaji Ahamadu Bello who was an embodiment of the great kingdom of Sokoto and the only immediate last and direct descendant from the great Jihadist.

Sheikh Shehu Usman Danfodio eventually lost to Sir. Abubakar Bello. NewsEnquiry learnt that Sultan Abubakar met a stiff resistance from Sir Ahmadu Bello who saw himself as the rightful person to occupy the throne and his ambtition was seen as unlimited.

According to history, Ahmadu Bello took a stand and refused to pay any allegiance to the then Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abunakar the III.

The late Sardauna as a gallant warrior under the influence of royalty intoxication was said to have dis-respected the then Sultan and subsequently assaulted the great Sokoto Sultanate throne, an enviable legacy which his ancestor bequeathed on them.

The story was told that the contention and rivalry was very rough and degenerated so much that Sir Ahmadu Bello was castigated and cursed never to smell (occupy) the throne as a Sultan in his life time.

Events according to history tumbled into several events and simultaneously the Sardauna, Sir Ahmadu Bello was not able to find things easy. He suffered all sorts of human atrocities in the hands of the late Sultan.

Sir Ahmadu Bello, [NewsEnquiry] learnt suffered and had a grim experience, he was extra-ordinarily branded with the names of alleged misappropriation of public funds as an Officer in Sokoto Native authority government.

It was narrated that Sir Ahmadu Bello was humiliated and brought to Zaria from Sokoto chained, on the order of the Sultan Abubakar to answer court charges of embezzlement of public funds.

He was humiliated by the authority hard liners and suffered further atrocities in detention at Zaria. However, his admirers who were against what they considered as the unjust detention of Ahmadu Bello, schemed up and those who were in authority did everything within their power to secure his release.

NewsEnquiry learnt that Sir Ahmadu Bello narrowly escaped prosecution and imprisonment but suffered grim experience in detention. He was senselessly charged for the alleged scandal.

For the benefit and interest of those who do not know, we like to put into record that Sir Ahmadu Bello was a great descendatn of Shehu Usman Danfodio. He had the "Fodio" blood and "Danfodio" means son of a leader, while "Fodio" itself means 'leadership'. Ahmadu Bello was to inherit the stool of Sokoto Sultanate but as one of those twist which occasionally govern the affairs of every human being, he was pushed out.

Thus, as the news of independence sovereignty for Nigeria was being scourged, regionalism was felt in the land. As the news of the impending independence grew, there was a need and call for a person who will head the Northern Regional Government with headquarters in Kaduna.

NewsEnquiry further learnt that the colonial masters consulted the Northern Emirs to pick a person who will understudy the British Colonial masters in the wake of independence hand-over of Government.

Under the then new Political development it was narrated that the Sultan of Sokoto who also was the head of the Northern Traditional Rulers on hearing that whoever was chosen to be the Northern Premier must reside in Kaduna, recommended Ahmadu Bello to the British Colonial masters for Premiership.

Stories told, were that situation and crisis report of the serious bad blood which existed between the two Princes and inability of the Sultan to force Ahmadu Bello to flee his domain formed the basis of his decision to swiftly give him for Kaduna job out of Sokoto.

Similarly, the dividing line was that in those days Kaduna was not an important and glorious city. It was regarded as a city for slaves or what is better known as Arina city.
