Most Nigerians are in habit of throwing dirt through the window of a vehicle. I wonder sometimes if this habit is inherent, learnt or exists in our gene. Nigerians are aware of the consequence of this ugly behavior but their persistence is second to none. It cuts across all levels of society either old or young. It does not matter either rich or poor. Everyone partakes. Even if our market women are dirty, what about the elites? It beats my imagination going to smaller countries and finding them neat but my dear giant of Africa is full of craps on the road. Everyone is dirty. A boss of mine embarrassed a police office asking him why he didn't iron his cloth? I will recommend the those that agree with me to caution the next person that is found wanting in this ugly behavior. 18 Likes |

because most of the public transport mediums don't have a waste-bin in them. If the habit is to be curbed, we need to start from there. That is not enough excuse for the bad habit, though. 1 Like |

We throw dirts through the window of a moving vehicle so the wind can blow it away to the road side.  But really i never thought of why until i read this post. Fortunately i rarely do that except maybe chewing gum wraps |

specialguest: We throw dirts through the window of a moving vehicle so the wind can blow it away to the road side.  When you throw satchet of water, bottle of table water, Gala wraps, Suya wraps etc out of the window, it makes the environment dirty and ultimately block drainages. I felt like slaping the hell out of those I saw doing it. Very pathetic.  1 Like |

Man this post ( and title) is confusing. I thought the OP was suggesting that others (pedestrians) were throwing "dirt" into a vehicle via the open window. Reading it over, I understand now that the issue is of motorists and passengers throwing out their waste/garbage/dirt from their vehicles on to the roads/surroundings in reckless abandon. It's a very valid observation and there is no excuse for it. Even if there are no garbage disposal facilities on the road one can simply wait until the final destination to dispose of the garbage (dirt) appropriately. 2 Likes |

AbuHanifa: we nigerians are very peculiar and bold in doing wrong things. we easily disregard simple rules with impunity and if just anyone tries to correct such, you could land yourself in the hospital for that. its a very wrong behaviour to throw things out of your car window but we see it as nothing, some will even tell you that if you do not dirty the streets, what would the cleaners do  thanks for this OP, i always fight anyone i pick in my car if such is done, i prefer leaving the dirt in my car till i get somewhere i can dispose it. 1 Like |

Again,alot of recyelable products are been waste as dirty that can be turned to a newly product. |

Ur own is small na.....my own question is, why do ppl like spitting like snakes on the road and worst of all, blowing catarrh anywhere within sight? It's so disgusting when i see ppl do it @ will...both male and female....old and young.....ppl in tie + suits, agbada, jeans + T-shirts..... I remember one day when i saw 1 woman (she wasn't pregnant) was just flooding the office compound with saliva and i asked her....Me... "Madam, if u enter ur living room and see your kids urinating on the rug or spitting on the sofa or rug, what wld u do"? Woman... "God forbid....dat can never be my child" Me... "Madam, it's only a question....pls, what wld u do if ur child did such"? Woman... "I will kill dat child" Me.... "I think i need to get your mother to kill u 1st for destroying our ecosystem with your poisonous saliva"  1 Like |
