Say what you will about Assad. He may be a dictator (kind of a prerequisite for ruling in this part of the world) but he has pretty much kept the peace with Israel and also up until the invasion of foreign terrorists in his own ethnically diverse country. U.S. or European nation building attempts will not work. Let Syria solve Syrian problems. |

The U.S. must be very careful not to take sides in this particular war. On one side, you have the ruthless butcherer of innocent civilians known as Assad. On the other side you have the rebels, and in this army of rebels are a decent amount of fundamentalist Islamic extremists and some of them are even affiliated with al-Qaeda. It would be wise for the U.S. to stay out of this one |
