Niger State Governor and Chairman of Northern States Governors Forum,NSGF Babangida Aliyu has insisted that the outcome of the Nigerian Governors Forum election that returned Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Ameachi as the winner of the election remains valid.

Aliyu said the Governors Forum conducted an election which produced a winner and some of the governors stand by the result.

Fielding question from journalists after the regular quarterly meeting of Northern States Governors Forum held today at General Hassan Katsina State House, Kaduna, Aliyu maintained that there was no division among the northern governors over the election.
Though he acknowledged that there was an election that was later rocked by crisis, he believed the problem would be solved with time.

However, P.M.News gathered that out of the five governors that attended the meeting , three of them, Jigawa , Niger and Nasarawa states were pro-Ameachi while the other two; those of Kaduna and Gombe were pro-Jang.

A source told P.M.News that Kaduna governor, Mukhtar Yero was compelled to attend because he was the host and Gombe State governor that attended was absent during the NGF meeting so he was neutral.

It was also gathered that Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang and other pro -Jang supporters refused to attend the meeting on grounds that chairman of the NSGF, Governor Aliyu betrayed them during the election that later divided the governors.

He should also be suspended from the party and if necessary the entire PDP structure in Niger should be suspended.

Nigeria Governors Forum, Northern Governors forum, South East Governors Forum, South West Governors Forum, South South Governors Forum, PDP Governors Forum etc. IF una like make una form Nairaland Governors Forum, which of course is my own party at the moment, all we want is good governance. Forming a myriad of visionless forums will not put food on the tables of Nigerians. Neither will it help create Jobs for the unemployed. Instead of forming useless forums please sit down in your various states and plan how best you can deliver your people from illiteracy AKA itiboribo. Ndewo.

All this talk doesn't matter anymore, the governors forum has lost its power which was in its unity.
The aim of the whole thing has been defeated.

The issue on NGF is subjudice and till the final outcome, maintaining a position does not hold waters. He should explain what made him renege on his words after agreeing to present Jang to other governors. He is just showing that he cannot be trusted.

The ballot papers should have included the signature of every one as they vote if there is no hidden agenda by the acclaimed winning faction. If the DG, I am sure the NGF secretariat DG will be required to produce the ballot papers in court and hope that will be enough to proof that 19 Gov actually voted for Amaechi.

If the ballot papers were only ticked, then all the governors that attended the inaugural meeting of Jang's fanction can petition the courts that they voted Jang or DG, NGF proof otherwise through the ballot papers.

Thank you @ Chimezie, Democracy is all about free choice, why should others try to impose their own will on other people. Governor Amaechi has been rightly selected, If PDP can t put their house in order, they will continue to be a laughing stock.

The issue is beyond whether or not NGF was using election to choose her leader. For as long as they all willingly agreed to go for election and there is no provision to the contrary in it's bye laws the election is valid. The only reasonable option available to the loser is to approach the court to prove his case. Some people are even asking whether the ballot papers were signed. Is it now a requirement for a ballot paper to be signed before election can be valid?

You are 100% right.
Don't mind them, must the ballot papers be signed or numbered?

There will be a general meeting of arranged members of the Nairaland Governors Forum (NGF) with the Oga at the top to deliberate on the public nuisance of many PDP trolls and errand boys on Nairaland.
Follow this topic for the date of the meeting.

it it NOT the job of the govornors to 'look GEJ in the eyeball and...'
that is the job of the house of reps and senators and the judiciary!

Babangida was chairman of the northern forum that produced Jang. He is a traitor! greed
Amaechi was elected governor and not senate president.
Let them work according to their 'pay-grade'!

A driver should concentrate and drive while you let the pilot to do his or her own job.
