Yop...it's me again (Kene??You remember??The Strange Neighbours??). I have another write up and was hoping to get someone tell me how good(or how bad) it is. Ok...Here it goes: ========================================================================================================================= We update our statuses We tweet what’s on our mind We upload and share our pictures We comment, like, favourite, retweet We send friends requests, follow and get followed Hoping to make a connection, Hoping to feel wanted, Hoping to feel “initiated”, “to belong” But the disappointing truth is that, At the end of the day, We still carry our demented and saddened souls back to bed Cursing the present day, And already hating the next Cynthia believed so much in the social net work It seemed like she didn’t WANT to make a connection, She NEEDED to make a connection She was tired of being invisible Tired of being lonely Tired of feeling depressed She gave the social network her all, And surely the social network took her all Including her life May her gentle soul rest in peace. Amen. In the bid to make a connection online To feel loved We stop living our real life, We become retarded, Introversive, Disgruntled humans And retreat to our virtual life, Our inexistent life We could text for 24hours without blinking But we cannot keep a real conversation for more than 10mins In the bid “to belong” We stop living, And become mere existing beings The problem with the social network is that, No matter how frequently you update your status or follow people No matter how much time you spend online, How many likes or retweets you get, How many friends or followers you get in a day We are all chasing shadows, An inexistent feeling We all try to fill our emptiness at the same time, So we like, comment, share, retweet and favourite ourselves And the irony of it all is that, At the end of the day, We are still that same empty, depressed person Tired of the sun that keeps rising every day, But still terrified of it burning out Let us make a bold step today, Let us stop existing, And start living our life Let us not try to “belong” to any connection(s), But let us make our own real-life connections Let us stop texting, And start talking Let us stop liking or favourite-ing, And start laughing or hugging Let us start being real people, And not just online accounts Let us draw inspiration from this post And make a change today! ======================================================================================================================== Thanks SO MUCH for your time and comments!!! |
