Peoples Democratic Party and Accord Party lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday declared that Governor Abiola Ajimobi had piloted the affairs of the state well in the past two years.

They passed the vote of confidence after listening to an address presented to the Assembly by the governor as part of activities marking the second anniversary of his administration.

The Deputy Speaker, Babatunde Olaniyan, who is of the Accord Party, said the governor was not only industrious but also accountable.

He attributed the peace and development in the state to harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislature.

He said, "You have, in the last two years, demonstrated that you want us all to work together to move Oyo State forward."

The Minority Leader, Rafiu Adekunle, said, "You are performing and we want you to perform more. We are very grateful and happy to work with you. Those of us in other political parties cannot see something good and say it is bad."

The Deputy Majority Leader, Kehinde Subair, moved a motion for passing the vote of confidence in the governor while the Chief Whip, Abiodun Ahmed, seconded the motion.

The governor, who attributed the administration's performance to tenacity of purpose, noted particularly that he was happy with his accomplishments in infrastructural development.

He said, "The acceptance and encouragement you gave me during that first state of the state address became the fillip with which we moulded the achievements that we have recorded."

He noted that the three political parties in the state-Action Congress of Nigeria, PDP and AP- worked together to support his administration.

He said, "Our preoccupation was to rewrite our un-enviable position in the annals of history and trumpet to the world that we are a people conscious of our pacesetting heritage".

Re: Opposition Lawmakers Hail Ajimobi's Achievements by RedReact: 9:11am On Jun 14, 2013
This is how governance should be, as politics is diferent from governance. When in politics, self-interest might be the watchword for the party members; but when in governance, common-interest should be the key to deliver good governance.
What some of our politicians don't know is that when an administrator is performing well, it will help them build up their ideology so that they can present an better alternative to the one in power. If the people are convinced enough, they vote them in and if not voted-in, they learn from the mistakes and polish on their delivery and give it a go another time.
Good one from the lawmakers at OYHA, as I don't see them as oppositions at all so far they are serving the interest of the people that voted them to office.

Oppositions are but few in the oyo state house of assembly! They are well out numbered even when a vote is casted against a decision!

If they wanna act tough, they will suffer!!! And their own share of 'ghana-must-go' according to political right in Nigeria go dey jump them pass be that!

You are right. On reflection, "governance" is a better choice of words. Your post is a good one all round.

I see the vote of confidence as a true representation of the state of affairs in Oyo State. I believe money is not everything and hence it will be unfair to label such moral voices as wolves or traitors just cos they are not playing politics of bitterness.
Must there be a price on saying the truth always? How many will collect ghana-must-go and still backstab the gov?

And by the way,it is a better business for the opposition in Oyo state to condemn the gov than lauding him cos the accord party(ladoja) and PDP(akala) in Oyo state are working together to wrestle power from ACN and the PDP will stop at nothing to fund Ladoja and any other opposition voice.

We should credit the brave legislatures. The Gov shouldn't be carried away, IN IBADAN 2 YEARS IS TOO LONG A TIME FOR THE TALKING DRUM TO CHANGE ITS MELODY. In Oyo,their song is "keep on dancing, you are on your own....'

You definitely do not know what you write! Accord and PDP lawmakers in Oyo State house of assembly have enough numbers to make life hell for the governor (15 out of 32), he went into alliance with Accord party to have the needed peace.

You would need to keep up with Ibadan politics to be able to make informed comments.

Any right thinking person would renege on the agreement with Accord party, please go read Ajimobi's letter to Sen Ladoja on the removal of Accord party's nominees into government.
Sen Ladoja has been attacking the governor on mundane issues, even some of his party people do not agree with him.
