SEX IS a humongous part of Marriage.

If it were just about companionship then why get married at all. I'm pretty sure we don't need a court of law, judge, or minister to bless or approve basic platonic friendships.

The point is, that SEX is one of the major things that make marriage a covenant (traditionally a type of blood covenant).

Some of you seem to have some problems with reading comprehension, and have erroneously quoted me, and went off on a tangent about how depressing and unusual my ideas are.

I think its sadder that just because I am a woman who isn't against polygamy that I am practically branded an alien and an slowpoke (Progressive You are NOT). I am NOT in a PLural marriage - for the record.

I sure hope some of these women of Nairaland never end up being leaders in your country.
Their inability to have an open ear and disagree without denigrating an individual is nto virtuous.

There are matters you don't need a second blink before you take actions against. However, no man or woman can stop polygamy. smiley

I wish a minimum, age requirement would be imposed so that little girls like THIEF would be forced to go play somewhere else, so grown folks can talk. angry

I wonder what the grown ups are saying?.
Olanajim tells us polygamy is good for humanity
some unvirtous woman earlier told us she wanted her husband to take on a wife who would perform in bed while she recovered from an illness.
That's what the "grown ups" are saying.
Who wants to join them?

I'll gladly talk with the "children" who believe in the sanctity of the matrimonial bed.

Re: Why Would A Man Go For A Second Wife? by PTH(m): 3:04am On Aug 29, 2007
Abeg debosky, how dare you disagree with "grown ups" like madam tanna? She's only trying to help her husband who cant zip up his pants because the woman he claimed to have married for better for worse is ill.
I know of a family friend who went 12yrs without remarrying because he didnt want to hurt the memory of his late wife by marrying too soon. He only remarried about 3 yrs ago because of unrelenting pressure from family and friends.

Thank you o.
Cant believe some non nigerian akata tart is running her mouth on who should be on a NIGERIAN forum.
What's wrong? Is BET.com/blackplanet.com down or something? Berra comot from my face.
Damned hypocrite. It's ok for your "weakling" husband to seek another woman while you're on your death bed but women should just stare like idiots right? I hope you truly are married and not just saying all that garbage just to get a nigerian dude here because i wouldnt put it past your kind.

who taught her this "virtuous" word self that she's been repeating like a broken record? Now "word of the day" in the ghetto? shio.

P.S. Amen cheesy

lesson no.1: a public forum is NOT the place to go for rational discourse on ANYTHING.

However it is a great place to sample opinion.

I disagree with tanna and olanajim but strangely enough I find myself siding with them against the crowd that just feels they should shut up and not speak at all.

Thats like trying to solve your problem by burying your head in the sand. I'd love to debate the issue of children with them, for example ask tanna whether she would be comfortable with the suffering her children would endure for the sake of her husband's happiness, but its hard for me to do so when everyone else on my side is just attacking them and judging them without hearing them out

@TOH: This is NOT directed at you. You've chilled out, which is cool, but then others just jumped in from nowhere and the whole thing flared up again. Thats pretty frustrating for me. I was hoping for some interesting discussions. You hardly ever see a person defending polygamy that isnt some crazed religious nut or barely literate 'traditionalist'. Also please resist the urge to hit back at Tanna for calling you a child. Ignoring such comments is the easiest way to squash them.
Re: Why Would A Man Go For A Second Wife? by ThiefOfHearts(f): 1:54pm On Aug 29, 2007
Um you realized that others jumped in because of her idiotic remark about our country and Nigerian women right?

Why shouldnt they reply?
Re: Why Would A Man Go For A Second Wife? by ClimieNH89: 4:39pm On Aug 29, 2007
As for me, that day they approve polyandry I shall be contrary to plygamy.

Na only men sabi enjoyment?

Like me now who wan marry Will Smith, LL Cool J, Nelly, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, I nor fit because this chauvinist society nor let me.

Legalize polyandry and I'll leave polygamous men alone!

Re: Why Would A Man Go For A Second Wife? by dakmanzero(m): 6:50pm On Aug 29, 2007
