Britain will engage Nigeria on the bill seeking to stop same-sex marriage, British Prime Minister David Cameron said yesterday.

He was speaking against the backdrop of the legislation already passed by the National Assembly prescribing 14 years imprisonment for same sex marriage offenders. The bill is waiting for presidential assent to become law.

Cameron said yesterday “nothing should be off the table” when it comes to foreign aid and protecting equal rights. He spoke on a BBC programme.

Cameron told the BBC that he would be raising the issue with Nigeria’s leaders.

“With countries like Nigeria, where we have a very good relationship, a very strong relationship, nothing should be off the table”, the prime minister said.

“So when we meet with Nigerian politicians and Nigerian leaders, we should be very clear about those things that we agree about and very clear where we disagree.”

Mr Cameron said the UK has a “very good record on equal rights for lesbian and gay people”, adding: “we believe that’s right for every country in the world.”

“The matter of your sexuality is something that shouldn’t be a disadvantage to you [just as] your religion, or your race, or the way you should choose your life “

When asked if UK foreign aid should be docked from Nigeria, the prime minister said: “We will have to have some conversations with them, as I said nothing is off the table and we should have these conversations, but we also have some very important objectives with the Nigerians for instance to deal with the appalling rates of poverty in the north of Nigeria which [is] part of a problem that affects not just Nigeria but the rest of the world.”

The PM added: “But as I said, nothing [is] off the table; always prepared to have these conversations, and my view very strongly is that we should have proper equality for lesbian and gay people and that should apply everywhere in the world.”

Mr Cameron this is not a matter of debating it with our leaders the truth is that nigerians as a people is against it. It is not in our value, it is not in our culture. The bible does not support it, so also Koran or traditional religion. We see it as abomination. Aid or no aid we say no. So is better for you to face some more important issues.

Cameron should knock himself out if it makes him sleep better at night. If we were a middle eastern country, I doubt Cameron will be able to force us as country to do what our leaders do not want to do.

Two questions:

1. Has Cameron ever attempted to discuss this issue with the likes of Saudi Arabia? After all, gay rights in Africa should also be gay rights in the Middle East, no?

2. Will the UK allow any of its nationals to marry more than one wife? If a man is seen with two girlfriends, is he seen as cool, only to be arrested for "bigamy" if he marries both of them?

Western politicians need to understand that all politics is local. They keep pushing this idea of "gay rights" all over the world because they have strong pro-gay lobbies. Conversely, African politicians will continue to oppose gay rights, for the simple reason that there is strong anti-gay sentiment here.

Though I PERSONALLY am not in support of the bill, it simply reflects the wishes of the majority of Nigerians, and there's nothing that will change that at this point.

The West really needs to give this gay marriage issue a rest.

When we are still trying to rehabilitate our mentally handicaped/brainwashed brothers and sister who are sank into the racist western religion/politic& education doom. They are now introducing their gayness human destruction and population control agenda which we the inteligent few know is a trick to turn African into homosexual haven mainly to kill out the negro population.

Have you ever wonder why Black Gay are the centre front of Gay marrage campaign?. Come 30/50 years later when they succeed in brainwashing the whole negro race into homosexual doom, they would then turn their back on us by been the same people to condemn homosexual telling us they now realize their mistakes and henceforth start to do a way with homosexual, then the only people practicing homosexual will be their older men and women just like case of religion in the western world today while their youth re-brand their selves to normal attitude. oh by then it would be too late for the black people because we are a one way street people anything introduce to us by the western people turn to addiction and destruction of the whole populace.

And some Evil Society people that collect grants from foreign donors to promote gay rights issued this statement:
We, the undersigned human rights defenders, groups, individuals and civil society organizations hereby demand that the recent passage of the ‘Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Bill and other Related Matters’ by the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria be rescinded. The provisions of the propose bill infringe upon the fundamental rights provisions of the Constitution.

On the 30th May 2013, the Nigeria House of Representatives passed the bill titled “Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Bill’’. The Bill prohibits marriage between persons of same sex, criminalize organizations and persons who directly or indirectly aid or abate such a union. This Bill will deprive Nigerians of their fundamental human rights as guaranteed in Chapter IV of the 1999 Constitution. This includes the right to peaceful assembly and association, right to life, right to privacy and security of the person, right to private and family life, right to freedom from discrimination, right to freedom of expression and press, right to fair hearing, right to dignity of the human person and right to personal liberty.
