Queen Jasmines Mbonu,MBSN Democracy Dazzles At Rage Against Rape Campaign As Gov. Peter Obi Pledges Massive Support

It was a mixed display of angry emotions and dazzling presentations at the Rage Against Rape campaign organised by Queen Jasmine Mbonu, the reigning Most Beautiful Student In Nigeria -MBSN Democracy.

The all important event which held at the Chike Okoli centre for Entrepreneurial Studies,Unizik, attracted a mixed crowd of youths, students, the academia, government officials, politicians, entertainers and the press.

The program which was in two arms also featured empowerment program a pet project of Queen Jasmine's foundation which aims to empower 5000 youths to be self-employed and independent. Speaking at the event, Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra state, represented by the commissioner for youth and sports, commended the beauty Queen, Jasmine, for coming up with such a worthy initiative, promising a massive support for the empowerment project.

Other dignitaries who attended the occasion include, Lady Henrietta Agbata, Honourable commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Tony-Uche Ezekwesili, Ohaneze Ndigbo National youth leader, Hon, Tony Nwoye, Chief Prince. , CEO Tetrazini Worldwide, Mr John Nwosu Chairman, Ebube Foundation, Dr. Sarah Jubril, who was represented, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, also represented, etc. Each of these dignitaries also promised support for the empowerment program as a tool for curbing the menace called rape.

The red carpet event also featured other beauty Queens and Kings such as the Face Of Unity Nigeria, Queen Chichi Mbagwu who also delivered a heart-touching speech on the evils of rape,Mr Anambra Universe, etc

Queen Jasmine Mbonu, who was looking all glamorous and gorgeous at the occasion made a resolve to continue in her fight against rape untill there is a true change.

In her words,“ I choose to engage in this campaign called ” Rage Against Rape” because at this time, their is urgent need for an end to the incessant rape encountered on daily basis by young and innocent girls across the country. The scourge is growing rapidly as brothers are raping their own sisters, fathers raping their own daughters and masters their maids. We believe that with campaigns like this,we can overcome it and also preserve the dignity of our female children"

“This is the reason we have set up the Jasmine Foundation, so that after my one year reign as the Most Beautiful Student In Nigeria Democracy,we can still use the platform of the foundation to empower students in tertiary institution and preserve the dignity of female student,” she said. She listed bead making, soap making, tailoring, hair making, small scale business and other profitable ventures as some of the ventures that the 5000 female students will be taught, while stating that each student will through the Queen Jasmine Foundation receive N50,000 each as a start up capital which will be refundable without any interest.

The event which attracted high powered media presence was wrapped up with a passionate vote of thanks by the Queen's manager and the manager of GLees Media LTD, Mr Alex Nwankwo.
