Briefing journalists at the end of the meeting, which lasted for over two hours, Chairman of the South-East Governors forum, Mr. Peter Obi said the meeting was to discuss ways of collaboration between the two zones.

“We met today in Enugu and discussed how the two zones will work together economically in the area of infrastructure.

“Akwa Ibom and Abia states have reached an understanding to work with private sector to reconstruct and dualize the bad Ikot-Ekpene-Aba Road in order to improve economic activities within the corridor of both states.

“We also discussed the issue of oil theft and how to curb the theft. We discussed issue of ethnic harmony between the zones and how to promote it”.

Continuing, the Anambra Governor said, “finally, we commend the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the various programmes as shown in the mid-term report which clearly shows that the transformation agenda is on course and we pledge to continue supporting him”.

Other governors at the meeting include, the host, Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Theodore Orji of Abia State, Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State, Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State

What is best for edo and delta was answered in 1963. With the creation of the old midwest region, from the west. If our parents and grandparents felt welcomed by your side, they would not have voted 83%-17% to leave. Remember, this was the only region in Nigeria created by people voting. We like our southsouth please leave us alone.

Anyway, this brotherhood has not been able to agree on even which 6th state that even the FG considered granting them, instead Anioma, Adada, Njaba, and even Ofe Owere Soup state were all staunchly promoted by selfish and politically immature statesmen.

This brotherhood could not even manage the senate Presidency that was actually stripped from them, has not been able to get their international airport even half-way complete after a decade, and cannot boast of any modern city or establishment.

Aba you talk of is among the worse places in West Africa, Umuahia cannot even call itself a "capital" and has the worse governor in Black history going to shrine.

Those that did not attend the meeting had better things to do.

Rubbish.
A casual observation actually denotes otherwise.
Many of the rural farmers in my home state are isobo (urhobos ).Most of the farmers around my dad's farm are from urhoboland and Benin kingdom( from places like kokori,olukumni etc)
Most of the people from the midwest vote with their money by either residing in the southwest or investing there.
The social circles of the business elites is predominantly .
Towns like Sapele(was a big rival to Benin in terms of opportunities ) , warri started their slow death immediately the so-called Midwest was created .sapale's forest reserve got depleted,the rubber ,oil palm and cocoa plantation was mismanaged .though they got a stadium,but the downward spiral had already started.
Benin prior to this was one of the foremost cities in nigeria. A drive around Benin is just like a drive round ibadan . A city stuck in time.
You can only integrate with places where interest are shared. Edo and delta may decide that their interest are better served within but an integration is more likely to succeeded with the southwest than with any other place or region by virtue of geography , history ,cultural affinity ,mutual interest,social enlightenment and common-sense.
