Six prominent socio-cultural and political northern groups led by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Northern Elders Forum (NEF) have said that President Goodluck Jonathan is gradualy leading the country into a stage of anarchy.
The prominent northern groups, which consist of the ACF, NEF, Northern Union (NU), Arewa Re-awakening Forum (ARF), Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP) and Code Group (CG), underscored the high level of lawlessness and abuse of power and rule of law by Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience as part of deliberate effort to extend his administration beyond 2015.
This is just as they accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of betraying the North, and alleging that late President Umaru Yar’adua was killed in order to sabotage the agreement on rotation of the Presidency which President Jonathan was a signatory to.

Addressing journalists in Kaduna on Tuesday, the spokesperson of the group and former vice-chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Ango Abdullahi said that the presidency would return to the North, adding that "the North will insist that the presidency will return to the North whether on the basis of morality or voting power."

He said the North would support any competent candidate irrespective of tribe or faith.
