OsunAmazon: What a waste! No good roads, no fire men or services, no paramedics, no ambulances or helicopters, no good medical services. And to think all these soldiers survived Darfur only to be killed the moment they arrived home - what an irony of life!!! Goodbye heroes. |

I am appalled that with all the "big big " statements of "national calamity, mourning etc, FG is not talking ( maybe not even thinking) of dualising/improving this particular highway that claimed these people's lives. Lives wasted. Maybe one day the people will wake up and realise that this is less to do with tribe and more to do with the "haves, don't want the havenots to ever have" and the havenots. Condolences to families. Sad and a shame. |

Nigerian roads are death traps, yet people speed without seat belts like they are driving on german autobahn. Common sense is what the country require, from top to bottom, you can't manage a car if you don't understand the basis of how it works, what it stands for,the mechanisms that connects with every other thing, you included. |

Deep sense of loss, to think that i knew one or two of those soldiers( i served in the same barracks they were returning to before they met their demise as a class teacher in the school there). Very tragic week this passing was especially for the families of the fallen soldiers. May God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. |
Re: 50 Nigerians Soldiers Perish In Auto Crash by landis(m): 3:40pm On May 26, 2008 |
May God bless their souls. But this is 'old stories', soon there will be another road calamity. |
Re: 50 Nigerians Soldiers Perish In Auto Crash by SkyBlue1: 3:49pm On May 26, 2008 |
Yes, this people will be mourned and ministers and even maybe the president will make comments and hold services for the victims, calling it a tragedy, etc while the roads will remain unfixed. Thesame thing will happen next month and the whole charade and circus will kick start again. The circus continues ad infinitum while the masses continue just accepting it as part of everyday life. |
Re: 50 Nigerians Soldiers Perish In Auto Crash by Kobojunkie: 5:51pm On May 26, 2008 |
Why in the world is this a national loss You mean the many thousands who die each year do not qualify but the death of 50 soldiers on the same roads makes the national loss list instead?? What is this?? Why do we continue to swallow up this nonsense These roads have been a death trap for years. Yaradua has has a whole year to do something about it and so far has done little but he is quick to tag this a national loss and Nigerians do not immediately stone him for making such a claim |

coolier: Sums it all up! The rot and decadence in Nigeria is continously highlighted everyday and it is a shame if innocent people have to pay the price of the mis-management of resources and incompetence of the gays calling themselves leaders A lot of bad things happening in Nigeria today could have been avoided but we have dum-dums in place as leaders sharing and looting away while the nation groans and suffers RIP Soldiers |
Re: 50 Nigerians Soldiers Perish In Auto Crash by CyberG: 7:02pm On May 26, 2008 |
This is just irritating and ridiculous! What has the government done about improving roads, security and other infrastructure in so so many years? NOTHING. Otherwise, we shouldn't be in this hell-hole called Nigeria now. Guess what? Yaradua and co-thieves will shout, make long speeches of emptiness, flags fly at half-mast, "mourning", display all kinds of crocodile tears and gimmicks, bury the soldiers with "honors", and all the cosmetics that come with every tragedy! However, the roads will NEVER be fixed, hospitals and healthcare will NEVER be improved, security situation will NEVER see any improvement, basic infrastructure like power and water resources to aid good medicare will NEVER get a boost or improve and NIGERIA will keep tumbling down the abyss and before you know it, another plane drops from the sky, disappears mysteriously, another major vehicle accident and several hundreds that happen in Nigeria daily while Yaradua does NOTHING other than make speeches of vision 2020 and go to Germany for the next headache! OMG, I pity Nigeria. Until Yaradua himself and all the thieves get into an accident on the same day and all get burnt to death with their family, nothing will change. We will keep hearing all the old strories that has never meant anything or changed anything. WHAT A SUPER-STUPID AND DUMB COUNTRY AND CURSED LEADERS? |

May be the senate and house of reps may wish to probe the crash and why a tanker driver should ram into a convoy of troops. how stupid? there is an airport in Maiduguri. what stopped the army or defence authorities from flying them to the airport there instead of ordering them to embark on the long trip via the bad road. somebody up there must have been cutting corners. farewell fallen heroes. may God strengthen your families. |
