INEC Finally Registers APC As A New Political Party Congratulations by xtianh(m): 12:59pm On Jul 31, 2013
PRESS STATEMENT

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the application by three political parties – the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) – to merge into one, to be known as the All Progressives Congress.

On considering the application, the Commission found that the applicant-parties have met all statutory requirements for the merger, and has accordingly granted their request.

Consequently, the Commission has approved the withdrawal of the individual certificates of the applicant-parties, and the issuance of a single certificate to the All Progressives Congress.

Abdullahi A. Kaugama
Secretary to the Commission

This move is good for democracy. the truth is that the earlier decision of inec to declare their final position on the APC registration on thursday, was just a diversion. Imagine the pressure(both financially, politically and psychologicaly) inec officials would have been under this night up to tomorrow morning from various interest.Whether u like APC or not, it is still the largest threat to the PDP. the reason why the PDP government misbehaves is because they are aware that the massess dont have an alternative platform. What is wrong if some members of the APC were once in the PDP.Chris Ngige is the best governor anambra had ever had but was in the PDP before moving to the ACN.and he still won under the ACN.so, election should be about the credibility of the candidate and not the party. Imagine people voting for Tafa balogun if he decided to Join ACN and vote out Fashola if he decided to move to the PDP. Is it the party that will put food on the table of the individual or create jobs?. if not, why is it the Governor Akpabio who belongs to the ruling PDP has transformed his state massively while other PDP states of equal opportunity have not been able to do the same?. Pls lets put religion and tribalism behind. If GEJ cant rapidly transform nigeria come 2015 then lets give him the boot.being a nice guy doesnt make you a good leader.God works in mysterious ways and can even use a heartless man from any background to set this country straight(look at Ghana under Jerry Rowlings).Where has being the most religious country(in the midst of our cannibalism, rithualism, corruption, insensitivity etc) in the World gotten us to. we should stop decieving ourselves that God loves Nigeria more that other countries.we claim naija guys are smart and sharp but we are still technologically backward and religiously gullible with all our 419.All APC has to do now is to field a young popular candidate void of regiona, ethnic or religious considerations or else i will have to manage with the PDP
