Not required, Dean Wingrin, Doug, Darren Oliver, Mistral, Airfire photography all got the SANDF covered. Even Frumentius of Nairaland........ Speaking of Frumentius, I wonder where that "skinny" white boy went?

#NO Racist

So the military should not bother doing its own promotional stuff and just hope the private sector will?

Come now

Not necessarily.

The SANDF seriously needs better PR.

It wasn't exactly a happy outing for the SA navy, when that navy commander blundered on live T.V.

Proper P.R should be left in the hands of the private sector, the military might have a different view of what good military photography is from what the private sector sees as proper photography.

Take for example, the Private sector knows there are 20 different angles to take a cool photograph, while the military would take same object once and live.

If we had those guys here in Nigeria, I'll always say fvck the military. SANDF photos taken by the SANDF are usually poorly taken.

The SANDF requires better PR in other areas, not in taking photos or shooting videos.

Generally across the Continent of Africa, including North-Africa, not just SSA, military photography is so poor and below hopeless. Poorly taken photographs across the place, only the private sector in SA is exempted, they at-least get a front row seat.

In Nigeria, the situation is near hopeless. In extreme instances the military PR themselves depend on amateur( most likely mobile phone taken images) photos of servicemen.

I find it funny.............. if you guys in South-Africa are complaining about bad P.R, what would Africans from Kenya be doing?

In all areas social media/networks, videos etc.

There was talk of embedding journalists with units in operational areas.

Avgeeks, reservists, writters or enthusiasts efforts won't change certain notions the public has about the armed forces.

In SA's case things such: how the submarines are operated?

Why maintain a small number of operational jet pilot numbers.

Operational needs/requirements for certain equipment.

There's a hunger out there for such info which must be fed via a well oiled PR machine or campaigns.

Strength showing or flexing like the armed forces day isn't enough.

Why is Uganda not using the SU30 in Somalia?
after museveni lost his Hinds which were heading to somalia in kenya and was never compensated ,i believe he lost the will.also i don't know if uganda air force has acquired precision ammunision and targeting pods which would be essential in such strikes.it is rumoured they used them in south sudan, bombing with cluster bombs

The usual hubris, gibberish. Nothing new.

You can only change how people view your military when you make at the very least, a good percentage of the land systems your army fields.

I'm also desperate for some info, as i have no idea. However my most measured guess is, the army would get MI-17 terminator1SH helicopters.

The Air force is training the army, pilots, engineers, technicians et al.

8 units of MI-17 terminator and 12 units of Airbus LUH should be the way to go.

EYE OPENING ARTICLE... MUST READ

A former US Marine corps soldier tells us his experience and how he feels about the service.

It's not the job itself that people hate it's the bulls**t that goes along with it. When not on deployment or in the field aka actually doing our job, there isn't much to do. We clean sh!t A LOT, from weapons until they're so clean you're taking the paint off. We clean our rooms to retarded levels aka field day.

Saudi Top Secret Memo leaked by wikileaks Says Iran Bombed South Sudan during Heglig brief conflict between sudan/south sudan

One memo, marked "top secret," makes the startling claim that Iranian fighter jets bombed South Sudanese forces during a 2012 standoff over the oil-rich area of Heglig. AP noted there are many such hard-to-confirm stories in the Saudi documents.
According to the documents, Saudis kept a watchful eye on Iran's friends, real or perceived. One 2012 memo warned that Iran was getting "flirting American messages" suggesting that the U.S. had no objections to a peaceful Iranian nuclear program so long as it had guarantees, "possibly Russian ones."

yea. We look forward to them. Your Military photographers if deployed to cover the Nigerian exploit in the North East would have immortalised our Men. Despite the amateur photos we are getting from the battle front we still see pictures of scenes of victory that have soldiers leaving the battle with a cloud of smoke and flames behind them. Those are the stuff of legend men and I wish we had better battlefield reporters to immortalise this young heroes.

considering how fast internet connectivity is in most african countries this days. i do wonder why most our military personnel in most of this Theatre War are not posting videos online.due to american soldiers and jihadists posting videos online about the wars in afghan and iraq, that later influenced even todays syria and iraq war
