However all our fighter pilots have been training on the T-38 Talon as a conversion aircraft in the interim.

No airframe would be flown by a contractor, the unit that is to fly the JF-17 has already been formed, they are called "SUPER"..... Something (I can't recall, but @Jteku and Nigerdeltaboi knows their full name). They are young experienced F-7 pilots.
Still doesn't cut it...The JF-17 (Block I ,II, and III) does not match the on-board electronic suites of the F-5E (A close relative of the T-38 Talon). This is the main reason why Morocco ditched its plans to induct the Block II versions. Our best option is to induct the L-15-class aircraft as an advanced jet trainer with pilots only doing type conversion on front-line squadrons to the JF-17, although again this could be done using a two-seat version of the JF-17 (Twin Seater variant yet to be inducted!). Either way, NAF pilots are not ready to fly that aircraft. Simple.

Someone mentioned Hamburger Hill? In fact the 101st survivors wanted to kill their CO,Col Honeycutt. They took over 50 KIA for what?? The following week the pos was abandoned. Its no accident the 1969 battle was the last serious US combat in Vietnam. By this time drug abuse and combat refusal were so rampant in even elite units commentators said the US armed forces were in "a state of collapse."
Bravo two zero was another masterpiece of propaganda-complete BS! After the book another SAS guy on a similar mission released the truth:they were compromised early on and were KIA and POW save one. In the book they dismantled an entire mechanised regiment!

I know you all have a fascination for light infantry boys and spec ops and their works but really, learn to recognise the smell of BS!!
i have always told you, soldiering is not in your blood, your are a politician purely by your reasoning.how are you supposed to convince anyone by saying pigs can fly, when you have not show any tinsy winsy proof.what have you proved by saying "they were compromised early on and were KIA and POW save one"

It isn't a problem as the B variant of the JF-17 would soon be launched. The L-15, M-356, YAK-130 are the same type of aircraft, They and the Karakorum are all available for advanced training.

NAF pilots are ready for the JF-17, is there currently a dual seat version of the F-7 in NAF inventory. All 3 dual-seater F-7, lost in crashes, so how do they fly the F-7?

There are no absolutes.

The Pakistanis were brought in following several FT-7Ni crashes, which resulted in the grounding of the fleet in October 2012. After assistance from the Pakistan Air Force, the jets were cleared to fly again.. THAT is what solved the issues with the F-7Ni. Back to the main issue, am sure Nigeria's quest for the Hongdu L-15 was borne out of the necessity for a suitable trainer for the incoming JF-17s.

Very sad to hear that the all dual-seater lost. FT-7 is the worest trainer. If the lost are caused by mechanical failure, the manufacturer must give some explanations.Though the mig21 family including Russian made age old mig21 have not very good safety reputation.

Exactly, the Pakistanis were brought in, in 2012, this is 2016, the Pakis left in 2012. The assistance of the Pakis did not help with type conversion, they only assisted with the mechanical issues of the F-7s.

Now back to the issue of conversion, there isn't a shortage of advanced trainers in the market. NAF has a significant pool to choose from, and there is also the JF-17B variant to look forward to.

The lost FT-7s were primarily due to mechanical failures. The F-7 was only purchased as a stop-gap measure until a suitable Light Multi-Role Combat Aircraft could be bought.

Speculations do not equal facts. Apart from the Nigerian government, the Pakistani government and the Chinese government, nobody knows the facts of this deal.

The JF-17B model, was one of the requirements made by the Nigerian government before orders were made. The B model (dual seater) should fly in december or early next year in China, production is already ongoing.

The order for the JF-17 was made late 2014 or early 2015 by my estimates. When the former CAS, Amosu visited PAC, he was pictured inspecting 3 JF-17s in advanced stages of there builds. It is possible those JF-17s are Nigerian, the 3 units which are to be delivered this year.

Nigeria has an entire fighter fleet to replace. The only equipment that isn't due for a replacement are our Surveillance planes and the F-7s.

For advanced trainers ;

Alpha jet - gone

L-39 - gone

MB-339CD - stuck in Italy, possibly gone.

The JF-17s would compliment the F-7s, the Super Mushak would replace the Air Beetle, possibly the Super-Tucano would replace the Alpha jets.

This leaves us with an advanced trainer deficit. A couple years ago i read the NAF was interested in the advanced version of the L-39, so we could in theory go for the L-39ZA as a replacement. We also have the L-15 as another potential option, we won't buy the BAE Hawk, that's out of the question, i also don't see us getting the YAK-130.... We just don't buy Russian planes for some weird reason (apart from cost).

Our most likely options for an advanced trainer are M-346, L-15, Karakorum 8, L-159 ALCA.

However all our fighter pilots have been training on the T-38 Talon as a conversion aircraft in the interim.

I am simply compairing the price bro.
Looking at the price tag of a plane with that engine.

Yes very depressed do admit that China does not make jet engines as reliable as Russia US EU UK made due to technology embargo. But this will change as time passed and progress been made.

Yeah, Since we are inducting 25-40 units(3 Squadrons) in the nearest future, the NAF can save costs by overseas training in Pakistan for the selected few who will fly the jets instead of acquiring the the JF-17B. From 2020 onward, we can now begin to shop for a 4.5 Gen fighter to equip two squadrons to form a new Vanguard for the NAF.

18 JF-17s and the J-31 when it finally enters production is a more likely Air Force we should aspire to. Although like i've previously stated, the J-10B would have been a more preferable choice for me.

Militarily the Americans completely won the war.

This is a fact.

** RANT STARTS**
What happened is that they secured the South and withdrew, Nixon (blessed Republican) was deeply feared by the North (he intentionally created the impression amongst them that he was insane) promised (in the Paris Peace Accords) that any Northern agression would be met by America returning to the South. He also promised massive military aid to the South.

But as we know, Nixon was replaced with Ford (but cowardly Democrats won the Senate/Congress). The North started testing the South with some minor border skirmishes, America did nothing (Democrats blocked it in Congress/Senate), the North escalated America did nothing (Democrats in Congress even started to block military aid to the South) and well... the rest is history.

Ironic how we saw the same thing again in Iraq, the Republicans pushed the American military to a hard won victory, but the Democrats (Obama) in their pathetic obsession with short-term peace, pulled out too soon and cut support too soon. The only reason they didnt pull out of Afghanistan as well is because Republicans took back the house as well as the Senate.

In the end of the day its all political, now the Democrats love to remind America that the Republicans brought them two costly wars which America lost. But in reality, it was only lost because of the Democrats (and one was actually started by them as well!)

**Rant over**

Also, did you know that an underground newspaper run by liberals in the US Army raised $50,000 to be paid to the soldier who killed Col Honeycutt. In reality, the 101st remaind loyal to him with all 3 attempts on his life being made by soldiers from other units.

Moral of the story - liberals are cancer.

the only reason why America is not engaged in a full scale war is because of the influence of a strong elite opposition to any arbitrary decision that is sanctioned by the ruling party. If America practiced the kind of Democracy that Nigeria or Kenya and any other SSA country practise a mad president who have the strong support of his party would have pulled them into perpetual war against a strong enemy that would eventually destroy them, But The Bush administration used article 51 (right to self defense) of the UN charter to invade Iraq. He forgot that for an action to ensure provided for under ART 51 as self defense the provoked state must first convince the security Council that she was attack by the armed forces of another state or by bandits who have the capacity to cause damage like any conventional armed forces, there was no evidence that Iraq is linked to AL quada and even if it was see the Nicaragua V USA case the court suggested that the mere sponsorship of militants and armed bandits against another state does not amount to an armed attack. The US opposition did not use any of this legal nonsense (that is known to even the most stupid student of international law) , against Bush action why?
OK even if it was an action in self defense due to the mass weapon allegedly in Iraq which according to article 2 (1) of the UN charter IRAQ was already subscribing to the UN WEAPON monitoring team and they have not given out their report. Before the UN team could give any report US and her allies who did not enjoy even the kind of fraudulent jurisdiction the US was enjoying joined and invaded Iraq even while other peaceful alternatives to war was still available. This was a clear violation of international law but the opposition in the US said little about it until the corpse started coming in and the cost of war started telling on the nation's purse. That was when all of a sudden invading Iraq became a bad idea. Bush deserves the same seat as the guys from the Nuremberg trial after WW2

Hiiraan, June 10, 2016 – The AMISOM Acting Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Nakibus Lakara, today commended Ethiopian troops for thwarting an Al-Shabaab attack and inflicting heavy casualties on the Al Qaeda-linked militants.

Maj. Gen Lakara visited the Halgan Forward Operation Base, in Hiiraan region, a day after troops from the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF), serving under AMISOM, thwarted a dawn attack by Al Shabaab, killing more than 100 militants.

Maj. Gen. Lakara was received at the base by the AMISOM sector four Deputy Commander, Col. Ayenom Mesfin, who briefed him on the operation and took him on a guided tour of the camp where a huge cache of arms seized from the attackers was displayed. The battlefield was still strewn with bodies of slain Al-Shabaab fighters.

“Let me congratulate Col. Ayenom and the troops for doing a very commendable job. Al-Shabaab has been exploiting AMISOM weaknesses but over time we have been able to learn lessons and share the experiences and this is evidence of the troops being able to pick those lessons from previous experiences,” he noted.

The Acting Force Commander said AMISOM had come a long way and will continue to ensure the weaknesses are addressed.

“This is a big catch; the communication gadgets, machines guns and the B10’s and of course the terrorists as well. It is massive,” he said in an interview moments after touring the battleground.

Col. Ayenom revisited the bloody Thursday, saying Al-Shabaab had attempted to overrun the camp but found AMISOM soldiers more than ready for battle, forcing the terrorists to flee after suffering major casualties. The fighting lasted more than four hours.

“We were attacked by about 400 enemies from four different fronts at dawn and the fight ended after 9:30am,” the Sector Four deputy commander said.

Apart from killing more than 100 Al-Shabaab fighters, the Ethiopian contingent managed to recover an assortment of weapons among them rocket-propelled grenades, AK 47 rifles, hand-held radios and anti-aircraft guns.

Maj. Gen. Lakara addressed the soldiers and praised them for their commitment and resilience in defeating the terrorists.

“I am going to report to the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia and Head of Mission that you have done a commendable job. I have seen the evidence on the ground”, he added.

AMISOM Force Spokesperson Lt. Col Kibet dismissed initial claims by the Al-Shabaab that they had overrun the camp.

“The claims by the Al-Shabaab are ridiculous. We have seen with our own eyes and it is pure propaganda to say that they overran this camp”, the spokesperson added.

Maj. Gen. Lakara was accompanied by senior officers from the AMISOM Force Headquarters, among them, Col. Othieno Mutacho, the AMISOM Chief of Operations; AMISOM Force Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Joe Kibet; AMISOM officer in charge logistics, Maj. Hope Kanoti and Acting Force Engineer, Maj. Ashenafi Abebe.
