The boots arent pink and the explanation was provided on multiple occasions.

Clearly you are feeling emasculated by the fantastic performance Senegal put on and are looking for a fight.

You need to be better.

Either way, the term Commando would be incorrect.

Frankly, there is only one set of Commandos who still exist and they are in the service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

And they only just slip into the ambit of "SOF"
Not really.

Some unit is organized into "commandos".

off topic :ISIS has release a video of a T-90 which turret was penetrated ,after being hit with an ATGM which cause ammo cook-off.here is a screen shot
Denel like in the late 90s(when the UAV market was still dominated by a few countries) is again fast asleep!!

Proliferation of active protection systems is inevitable.

Main battle tanks can't absorb modern ATGMs hits. This should have galvanized Denel and Saab to invest massively into to the LED-150 system and marketing it more aggressively.

Kudos to the Senegalese contingent in Gambia.

If they actually fight as good as their battle gear, equipment and logistics then they are one heck of a military...

Am just curious as to why Nigeria's military is playing second fiddle again as they did in Mali.

By not providing adequate, timely media footage of its warship, fighter jets and boots on ground, they have failed to seize the initiative.

With glossy AFP photos of their army on ground, Senegal seized the moment.

The story will be told of how the senegalese chased out Jammeh

Nawa somebody cannot play with Senegal again, these guys were ready for a conventional standoff shocked

They came really prepared. If the Gambians had so much as moved a muscle, they would have been completely pulverized.

Although it is also important that we take into account, Senegal is just right on the border.

I think you like violence. I think it's better this way, we get to sell all the equipment and none of the bloodshed.

This is not an Invasion, however if ECOWAS troops overstay their welcome it would be. A Dictator lost an election and refused to go, it would be stupid for the army to commit troops on clear grounds of selfishness. If ECOWAS came in uninvited, it would have been a bloodbath, possibly even aa drawn out guerrilla warfare.

At no point have we played second fiddle. This operation wouldn't have been possible without extensive Nigerian support.

Adequate footage has been provided. The Nigerian military released 24 photographs, 1 video and 2 extensive statements. The only country to have done that in the ECOWAS bloc.

However, i think i understand what you mean.

The Senegalese almost completely encircle Gambia, and for 6 years, Senegal and Gambia used to be a country.

That's not the story. The story gives a detailed account of all the players involved in Operation Restore Democracy.

Yeah definitely, anyone can look at a map and see the difference. It can be compared to NA soldiers deploying to the Niger delta.

It makes perfect sense that Senegal leads the way.

If after releasing 24 photographs, and what you see constantly are glossy pictures of senegalese army in the world press, then there is something problematic with information dissemination of NA.
Even a glossy beach landing of Nigerian warship NNS Unity with deployment of Nigerian troops could have been useful.

Proximity vs visibility

Guinea and senegal encompass guinea bissau but Nigeria still played a pre-eminent role there. Ditto for liberia, sierre leone

Anyway....

My point is that optics and perception is everything...

It is an active protection system for vehicles combining soft and hard kill capabilities.

The hard kill capability means the system is able to counter incoming kinetic munition(Anti-tank missiles, RPGs, Tank rounds etc) by destroying them down with the Denel dynamics Mogoose missiles metres away from the vehicle.

Similar to the Trophy system on the Israeli Merkeva main battle tanks.

These systems increase the survivability of vehicles and it's crew in an operational area littered with ATGMs.

A few countries South Africa being one of them possess this technology.

considering the level of proliferation of ATGM systems,i absolutely agree with you.there is money to be made now and in the future in active protection systems market, the market is still in its infancy

chances are that Senegal always had a contingency plan for such a deployment, so it may be just a live drill for them.
