PDP Ask Ndigbo To Ignore Okorocha, Calls Him A Political Prostitute! by billante(m): 9:06pm On Aug 07, 2013
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-east has described the statement credited to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State that Ndigbo would be better served in the APC as an affront to Ndigbo, whose kiths and kin were recently deported to Igbo land from Lagos State, which is the strongholds of the APC.

A statement by the party’s National Vice-Chairman (South-east), Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), yesterday said Okorocha should have first of all, reconciled the despicable incident of deporting 76 Nigerians of Igbo extraction from their country to their supposed homeland before making the verbose and unguided utterance which of course gave him and his new party away as an amalgamation of impostors.

Okorocha was quoted to have said in the United States of America, while attending the Imo State congress that the political fortunes of Ndigbo were better served in the new party, adding that the wellbeing of Ndigbo remains paramount to him.

Questioning why Okorocha had not considered it expedient to ask his mentors at APC hierarchy why they deported some Nigerians in their home country even when the party was at its embryonic stage, Akobundu emphasised that the likes of Okorocha were out there to sell Ndigbo to their masters for a pot of pottage; even when it was glaring that the APC had nothing to offer to Igbo man or woman.

“Okorocha’s profligacy and licentiousness in politics are well known. In 1998, prior to the commencement of the fourth republic Okorocha had a romance with the then All Peoples Party (APP). When he saw the tide was not in his favour he joined the PDP in 1999 and made a futile attempt to contest the Imo  State governorship poll then.

“In 2003, Okorocha founded the Action Alliance (AA), which he abandoned later and rejoined the PDP. For him to contest the the state governorship in 2011, Okorocha nested with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from where he became governor under doubtful circumstance," he said.

“Now ever-roving, Okorocha has once more found favour with a new political party that neither has the interest of Ndigbo at heart, as Okorocha tried unsuccessfully though to hoodwink our brothers and sisters in far away US into believing, nor has any good agenda for Igbos at home and in the Diaspora except deporting them from their assumed strongholds.

“APC is totally alien to Ndigbo and Igbos will reject it in 2015. Having embraced PDP, a party whose score card as recently published by different federal ministries, departments and agencies shows 80 per cent performance in all sectors in the two years of President Goodluck Jonathan’s first term, Ndigbo cannot but continue to support PDP in order to make Igbo land and Nigeria a model for development.

“In the South-east where Okorocha was referring to, the three state governments have been a cynosure of all eyes as the governments have maintained peace, delivered on their promises in providing infrastructure, security, health facilities etc and carried the people along in the governmental activities unlike the loquacious Okorocha who continually causes disaffection amongst the people of Imo state.

“When he is not fighting his subordinates and masterminding their impeachment, he is trading words with contractors who had insisted on due process. Such character is not the one to lead Ndigbo to their promised land. Who is sure if Okorocha will not abandon APC at the shortest possible time if his masters in Lagos, where the party claims it is making a good showing, scuttles his ambition?
“Ndigbo should ignore Okorocha and his APC and embrace PDP for the realisation of their political, economic and social objectives. PDP is neither a tribal party nor two-man show where decisions are taken at the bedroom of godfathers and imposed on the generality of the people.

My question to Austin Akobundu is this: What was PDP stance on the illegal internal deportation? What was the presidency stance on the same subject, as Abati and other loudmouth had been silent. What has PDP govt;s attorney general done since this assault on the constitution by Fashola?

Only a foolish Igbo man will listen to a party that brought us leadership in the past like Ohakim or T. A Orji and still gut the to claim to be a front for Ndigbo. I want Akobundu to tell us which party he belonged at the down of 1999?

Rochas only crime is to exercise his free right of association just like them. Bloody hypocrites.

what is political prostitute in a man exercising his right of association?Permanent interest is what exists in politics and every politician should belong to a party that he believes can better his lots.Tell me whether T.A Orji who decamped from pdp to ppa to apga and later to pdp is not a prostitute going by the man's definition of political prostitute. Ndi gbo should stop castigating this man because of his defection.u can only castigate him if he's not delivering dividends of democracy to imolites. Up Up Rochas.

Okorocha's desperation to contest presidency is driving him nut. He thinks with the North agitation profusely for presidency they will give SE the vp slot and that will fall under his laps. Akuko. If for anything SW gets nothing, they will abandon Tinubu and his co-hots. daz one hell of mistake Tinubu will not afford to make.

Nigerian parties at the moment are meaningless as they have no unified value

but the world view of those who form these parties or the intents and aspirational values of these parties will go on to mean something in not too distant future and I can tell you that what APC looks like as exemplified in Lagos is foreign to the way of life of igbos!

dinachi: Simple question; What is the PDP offering Igbos that they have not had before. Secondly what is wrong in igbos associating with APC?

If this is directed to me

There is nothing bad about Ndigbo associating with APC because the right to freedom of association is written in our constitution

That said the next phase of Nigerian politics and this will happen in not too distant future; will be ideologically driven. When this time comes it will be very obvious to most people that the policies and ideologies of APC have no place in the South East.

PDP deviated from the dreams of Ekwueme. It will eventually grow up may be if she does loose power someday. Going forward South East will either be controlled by APGA or PDP. But APC has no place.

What policies and ideologies are you talking about?
Please elaborate.
And pray tell, what exactly does PDP have to offer?

Some are perpetually condemned to be forever bamboozled and taken for an endless, crazy-circle ride by horde of unscrupulous elements. In what way has Austin Akobundu contributed to the upliftment of Ndigbo? What has the SE benefited from the PDP? Apart from Chime, all past and present PDP Governors of the SE are political bandits who governed their states with arrant directionlessness. Orji Kalu, Nnamani, Mbadinuju, Ohakim, Udenwa and Egwu, all left a trail of administrative incompetence, roguery, reckless misappropriation and gross irresponsibility. Theodore Orji and the gerontocrat in Ebonyi are nothing to write home about. SE PDP is too morally challenged to accuse Rochas of moral bankruptcy.

Rochas is being castigated and crucified because he his too ambitious. Anyone who has no ambition is not fit to lead.

ok I agree that it may be a broad brush but if Lagos State is the model for APC then may be not

I respect Fashola as a man who pursues his convictions but:

His elitist approach to Government will not work in the East
His tax and Spend policy will not work in the East because Small businesses need less tax to survice
His belief in Legislating lagos into a modern city and over-regulation will meet stiff opposition
His destructions of market without providing alternative will be opposed in the East
His big Government approach to governance will struggle in the East, Igbos prefer less govt and individual ability to shape your own destiny
I have not seen a lot of drive by Fashola to encourage enterpreneurship and small business

These things will make Fashola and potentially by extension APC unpopular in the East

also on security issues they were all over the place and seemed to adopt a partisan/sectarian stance in the face of SOE. Now you have the issue of criminal deportation of Nigerians which they have once again mishandled. Both simply pointing to a party thay will rather take the South East for granted.

^I am not one to promote tribal/ethnic chauvinism. The PDP Chieftain spoke on how the PDP controlled state governments in the SE are cynosure of all eyes and presented them in garbs as messiahs of the SE. My post was to counter such falsehood.

It is not my responsibility to spoon feed you. You can do a detailed scrutiny of the APC and PDP controlled states and parallel them on your own.

Agreed that the fortunes of Ndigbo is not worse off compared to the inhabitants of some of the APC controlled states, then I wonder why the mass migration? Is it because the SE states are abysses of helplessness, shattered dreams and broken hopes?

Just because Amaechi was rumored to have Presidential ambition and some of my Nairaland Igbo brothers started calling him names. I've tried to reason the logic behind their actions to no avail. Rochas went for treatment abroad and they accussed him of not building the best hospital in the whole of Africa less than 2 years into his administration. They expect him to have built 500 industries, finished all the roads, finished all the schools in 2 years. The question is "has any State in Nigeria finished all those since 53 years of Nigeria's independence ?"

Going by the standards set by these jealous people, Rochas is a legend.
