Lagos To Launch The First Digital Water Projection Advertising In Africa by Ayekotoo(m): 12:03pm On Aug 11, 2013
Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has approved the deployment of facilities and infrastructure to support the launch of the first water projection advertising in Africa. The first site will be at the Falomo Ikoyi bridge, Lagos. According to the Managing Director of the Agency, Mr. George Kayode Noah, "this is another format for outdoor advertising which provides a unique canvas for a variety of projected media like digital video projection, laser graphics, large format slide projection and may also be used to produce vast and seemingly holographic Imagery''. Noah noted that Digital water advertising offers a good blend of art and technology with a natural canvas. It is a technique used more and more frequently and, in the right situations can truly make the public step back and admire the brand's creativity. He added that with this launch, Lagos will be added to the list of other cities like New York where Nike launched its Melo 8 campaign at the Hudson River, Toronto Halifax during the Nissan Altima product launch and the Dubai global village. LASAA had deployed a similar technology, though not for commercial advertising, during the last Lagos 2012 countdown. Noah also used the opportunity to enjoin members of the outdoor advertising industry "to continuously find new cutting edge advertising solutions and ideas in delivering value to their clients" he said.
The Managing Director of Spot on Media, Mr. Sesan Ogunro expressed great appreciation to LASAA for the approval given to his organization to deliver the project.
Ogunro noted that "this project has come a long way and we are glad we are in the vanguard of this vision" he stated.
LASAA, an agency of Lagos State established in 2006 is responsible for the control and regulation of outdoor advertising. The agency as part of its plans is currently developing a signage. and outdoor advertisement master plan for the streetscape of Lagos.

He was the first in Nigeria to initiate and establish
-Signage and advertisements agency.
-Security trust fund.

Now almost all the Governors have emulated these initiatives.

This is not only about billboard, but more about cutting edge technology, state agencies and institutions actively doing their job and what the tax payers fund them to do.

Unlike your incompetent GEJ and his clueless and incompetent agencies of course.....

no, it's about a billboard. It's about a very expensive billboard in the midst of poverty. cutting edge technology would by the LSG or a Nigerian inventing this and profiting from it to add to our national wealth, but that's not the case. Taxpayer money is going into the purchase of billboard that will display products. It's a billboard.

cogitoErgo: this is very good, but will it stay after him and after the him, etc.

It might. The BRT and LRT systems were conceived during Tinubu's tenure and the BRT is still in existence while the LRT system is being constructed.

Government should be a continuum. The practice of discarding projects and policies of past administrations is one of the diseases we inherited from the military, which felt that they had to discredit past administrations in order to justify their coups.

So because there's poverty, the whole nation should refrain from upgrading modes of advertisement??

This is more than the billboard, why is it only Lagos that keeps adopting progressive ideas?? If other States were moving at half the pace Lagos is, Nigeria would certainly be a better place in little time.

Very soon, you'll wonder why Lagos keeps getting better while other cities keep looking rural.

Do you have any sources to back up your claim that taxpayers' money is going to fund this?

This reminds me of the cable car system. Some complained that the government wanted to steal money. They said that it would be a waste of money. The truth is that the system is owned, built and will be run by Dopplemayr. LAMATA's job is to regulate the system.

In this case LASAA (the regulator)approved the deployment of the facilities, while the Managing Director of Spot On Media thanked LASAA for the approval.

At the commissioning of the Eko Automobile Services Centre the Governor said that there are some businesses that government should not dabble into. Rather, government should create the enabling environment, attract investors and regulate the system.

IAMBREEZY: fashola is definitely a blessing in lagos not only lagos in nigeria, if all governors can do half of what fashola have done in lagos nigeria will be a better place, i just like his sense of humour reasoning.

True.
I think Amosun of Ogun is towing his path, with commendable development strides and attracting investors.
Ogun: Propelling Development Strides With Seven Additional Flyovers
The ongoing urban renewal programme has literally turned Ogun State into one huge construction site. Over the last two years, the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration has tenaciously pursued it, transforming the landscape with road infrastructure and re-enacting development at an overwhelming pace hitherto unimagined.

As part of this beautification drive is the plan to deliver seven flyovers across the state by December, this year. Surely, many residents are eagerly awaiting this monumental projects embedded in the government’s mission to rebuild agenda.

The flyovers are currently under construction simultaneously in Abeokuta, Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu-Ode and Sagamu areas. They include the two bridges at Itoku and Sapon along OGTV-Brewery road in Abeokuta; two bridges along Ilishan-Ago Iwoye road; Mobalufon flyover and Lagos Garage flyover along Ejinrin-Oluwalogbon junction, Ijebu Ode; and the flyover at Sabo, Sagamu.

Already, the Amosun administration has given a glimpse of its promise with the Ibara flyover located in Abeokuta, the state capital. The dual carriage overhead bridge is reputed as the first ever flyover constructed in Abeokuta by any state government since the creation of

Ogun in 1976. For some observers, the Ibara flyover has provided the vista to peepinto the bigger picture of more amazement to come. The flyover begins at the end of Lalubu road and opens into a standard six-lane Ibara-Ita Eko-Sokori-Totoro road, which was completed with drainages, median, greenbelt, walkway, streetlights, modern bus-stop and a pedestrian bridge equipped with air-conditioner, among other modern features.

Apart from the ongoing flyovers, several roads are also being handled by different construction firms across the state. These multibillion Naira projects include Ilo-Awela road in Ota; Moshood Abiola Way, Ojere/Adatan/Asero road and Lafenwa/Aiyetoro/Ajebo road in Abeokuta; Sagamu-Benin Express/Oba Erinwole junction road in Sagamu; Ilara/Ijoun/Egua/Oja-Odan/Ilase road in Ipokia; Ilishan/Ago-Iwoye road; Ikangba-Ilese road; Ejinrin/Mobalufon/Ibadan road in Ijebu-Ode, Ofada/Mowe/Ibafo roads; and Sango-Ijoko/ Oke Aro/Ojodu Abiodun road.

The state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Olamilekan Adegbite, said recently that the flyovers were expected to be delivered before the end of the year. He described the Ibara flyover as a model and benchmark to be replicated in all the three senatorial districts of the state.

Towards ensuring that all roads being constructed by the state government are completed as scheduled, the commissioner disclosed that contractors handling the projects have started asphalting sections of the roads.

During an inspection tour of the sites, Adegbite explained that the asphalting of sections of the roads were done after completion of all necessary concrete and earth works on the concerned roads.

“Some of the roads on which the sectional asphalting had been done include MKO Abiola Way, the Ilara axis of the 107km Ilara-Ijoun-Eggua road, Sagamu expressway-Sabo road, Ilo-Awela road in Ota and Onikolobo axis of Ojere-Adatan road in Abeokuta. The contractors are aware of the state government’s stand on when the roads are to be delivered and they are working towards achieving this,” he said.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction that despite the rainy season, the pace of work had not been slowed down but rather tremendous progress recorded on all the roads.

At the inauguration of the 2.4km Ibara-Totoro road on January 24, 2013, Amosun had given insight into his administration’s massive investment in infrastructure. He said it was in fulfilment of his electoral promises to the people.

The governor had expressed optimism that the flyover would aid movement of goods and services, ease traffic flow and reduce manpower-time wasted in traffic congestion, thereby improving the productive time of individuals plying the road.

He said, “Our goal is to put our state in the league of advanced economies and make it investors’ destination of choice not only in Nigeria but sub-Saharan Africa. To achieve this, we will continue to rehabilitate existing infrastructure and construct not just modern but high-tech infrastructure that will enhance the magnificence of our environment and act as a catalyst for our socio-economic development.

“I thank residents for their support and sacrifices for this project, especially those whose property gave way to the beautiful edifices that we are building across the state. I urge you to exercise more patience and continue to support the administration in its mission to rebuild Ogun.”

The governor assured that his administration was committed to improving the standard of living of the people through the provision of necessary infrastructure, including good roads, electricity, affordable health care, qualitative education, clean and potable water, shelter and empowerment of the people to become self-reliant.

To sustain these efforts, he called on the people of the state to support government by paying their taxes, levies and dues adequately and regularly. He also urged the organised private sector to take advantage of the enabling environment being provided and partner with the state government to create wealth and achieve good returns on investment.

With the massiveness of the capital-intensive projects, many have wondered how the Amosun administration would be able to execute them.

“Would these projects not plunge the state into needless debts” or “would they not be abandoned ultimately” have been the sort of question agitating curious minds?

The government’s huge investment could rather be imagined with 15 model schools under construction, purchase of tractors and other agricultural equipment, purchase of power transformers, Bus Mass Transit (BMT) buses, vacuum trucks for environmental sanitation, 13 Armoured Personnel Carriers and 240 security patrol vehicles, renovation and equipping of existing health institutions and the planned construction of 10 state-of-the-art hospitals across the nine federal constituencies in the state.

I once happen to be in a traffic just opposite the governor's guest house. Gov Fashola's convoy was stuck in the traffic as well. They didn't jump traffic like all known PDP govs would have, but stayed on their lane. The security aids came down to go inspect the cause of traffic, and gov came down to see what's holding up the lane as well. I had a chance to peek into the crummy back seat of his rangesport it looked like a mini-mobile library. Someone like Awo who understand that the best investment before any action is knowledge. Sincerely, we have a leader with his head in the right place, and this man no matter how bad they try to paint him is way beyond the mundane and cheap insults they try to splash at his shiny and glittering personality. Since that day, I knew BRF was a not just another fluke, like all the accident we have occupying presidential and governors offices. And for those people screaming ontop of their lungs to shoot him down, calling Lagos a no-man's land: my tip, no matter the height of your hate, in a week or two, we shall be applauding BRF and other Yoruba govs for another meaningful development. And if Lagos is truly a no man land, if them born you well, go Lekki or Badagry where still have bushes and start building and see hjow those omo-oniles will bounce you like soccer ball. So proud to be omo South West.
