Chisco, 35, stands ankle deep in a polluted swamp, boiling up crude over a fire. He employs three people. "I was jobless, but I have a younger brother who read geology at university and he taught me the process," he told thenewsmen, adding that it was hazardous work -- "you caneasily burn the whole refinery tothe ground". Godswill, who also declined to givehis surname, teamed up with two of his friends to start a refinery sitetwo years ago. His main job is maintaining a depot where crude oil is stored in a large holethat he dug in the ground. Whenever police or military discover the site, he says, he simplypays them off."Sometimes we have to run away and they burn down the site," he said. "Then we just make a new one." See one normal working day of him and his company below:

Would you really blame them.how can there be joblessness and lack of sustainable infrastructure in a host community to one of the world's largest oil producing nation.

Till now the PIB is under the carpet.didn't they say it would be implemented this year january, january never reach again.

The attitude of the Nigerian government to the state of these regions.there main source of income is polluted, gas flaring here and there, toxc dumping off the coast of these regions.release of crude extracts into the open water.

These type of men have been faced with desperate measures.they have no option to utilize what belongs to them.

I remember clearly during the subsidy saga, the Venezuelan Ambassador used his country as an exmple for Nigeria to emulate.he grew up in an oil-rich community.that automatically gave him ticket to a lot of benefits.such as:
Free health insurance.
Education free up till tertiary level.
Feeding and general welfare allowance.

All these came to him and his family freely.the govt was responsible for 80% of his upkeep.

How can Nigeria having a larger reserve still not get it right.

They keep blaming oil theft.even the one that wasn't stolen.what have they done with the funds from it.

I tire for this we country.man pikin must live.

Kairoseki77: This is why Dangote is building his refinery in the South West. Too many oil thieves in the creeks.

Nobody called those individuals planting dynamites on the rocky hills of the South-West thieves, just because quarry business is not as big as Oil business.

No creeks in the South West yet there are everyday cases of pipeline vandalism, even with people intentionally building houses and shops on pipelines for criminal purposes.

By the time Dangote finishes with his refinery in the South West he'll be wondering if he is in Oil business or Ororo business.

And after 4 years of the Otuekwe retardeen, this is what the ND still get? Well they deserve it! I was one of the people a few years ago, agitating, writing on behalf of the ND but it is now clear they love this kind of suffering especially if their retardeenic daftluck is well fed and his 1 Billion Naira hippopotamus wife is feeding fat on their destiny. Good riddance! When the retardeen is eventually shoved aside, you people can only suffer even more because now that there is great opportunity for a change, clean up and sanitizing of Nigeria and your life, he is more interested in remaining in Aso Rock than make change! Thunder fire all of una sef! grin grin grin grin

Well lets see which oil he produces, except you mean "groundnut" and "ororo" oil.

We will no longer give our oil to the leeches in the SW and the north.

Nobody asked your permission. Keep stealing the oil in your creeks and destroying your environment while we supply the nation with refined crude and create jobs in our region.
