PRESIDENT JONATHAN IS NOT A KINDERGARTEN

According to Benjamin Franklin, “A slip of the foot you may soon recover, but a slip of the tongue you may never get over”, if the recent statement credited to Chief Adebisi Akande, the interim National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) whereby he was allegedly to liken Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidency to that of a kindergarten is true, then Nigerians who in 2011 voted to elect Jonathan their president did not understand who a kindergarten is or that they do not understand the import of Section 131(b) of the 1999 constitution which spells out the mandatory age of any one vying for the office of the president. If President Jonathan is found to be above this mandatory age then Chief Akande’s mission is to deliberately mislead Nigerians.

Perhaps for the avoidance of doubt, it is important to reproduce here the exact words published in page 4 of Sunday Nation, August 11, 2013 wherein Chief Akande was quoted thus: “what the country needs is a thinking leader not a kindergarten president with no solution to the myriad of problems plaguing the nation. This is an unfortunate statement from a man of such repute. Chief Akande should be reminded that what Nigeria needs today are leaders who would address that which can move the country forward.

The statement, to say the least, is unexpected from an elder statesman of Chief Akande’s standing. Having contributed positively to the enthronement of democracy, Chief Akande ought to be mindful of the language he employs to describe the exalted office and person of the President of this great Country. Without mincing words, no right thinking or reasonable person would pass Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, an adult of more than 55 years for a kindergarten nor would associate Jonathan’s actions as a sitting President from the perspective of a kindergarten. Jonathan did not just rise from nowhere to be elected to the high office of the President of Nigeria. He is a man of good background, well schooled and a man of enormous experience.

The office of the president of Nigeria, it must be emphasized, is sacred and any sitting President for the time being is a symbol of the nation irrespective of which political party he belongs. For an individual, no matter how highly placed in the society or connected, to deliberately disparage or belittle that office, is to belittle the entire nation without exception.

A sitting President is amenable to constructive public criticisms with a view to correct his actions, but such criticisms should not be aimed at leveling attacks on his person or to disparage him. Chief Akande should be reminded that God willing, the opposition (APC) may one day take its turn and the office of the President would remain a constant.

Without equivocation, it could be posited that not many leaders since the democratic history of Nigeria after independence have the kind of democratic experience had by Jonathan before mounting the exalted office of the President of this great country. It is common knowledge that, Jonathan was Jonathan the deputy Governor of Bayelsa State and later Jonathan the substantive Governor of Bayelsa State. He was Jonathan the Vice President and later the Acting President who became Jonathan the substantive President in 2010 till date. Despite the organized sabotage against his administration, Jonathan still remained focus and has shown enough fear of God in ruling this country.

It is scandalous and a deliberate misunderstanding of the clear dictionary definition of the word “kindergarten” to say, howbeit subjectively, that Jonathan could be likened to a kindergarten occupying the exalted office of the Nigerian Presidency.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Oxford Advance Learner’s dictionary (International Students edition) defines kindergarten as a School or class to prepare Children aged five for School. Literally also means Children’s garden”. By Section 131 of the 1999 Constitution “A person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if (a)…………………. (b) He has attained the age of forty years. Chief Akande knows, Jonathan is above forty years and cannot pass for a child in a kindergarten.

It is common knowledge that the 2015 Presidential election will not go without stiff competition between the two major political parties for a winner to emerge. The contest will be interesting because the new APC led by Chief Akande is a formidable political party. The minimum expectation from our political leaders is how not to teach us how to abuse our leaders cheaply but how to create a peaceful and conductive atmosphere of INEC to conduct a free and fair contest in 2015.

Our leaders should pay less attention to ethnic or religious sentiments, avoid abusive or gutter language and attack on individuals. They should rather develop issue based arguments to sway voters knowing full well that it is only God who gives power to whosoever he likes.

Chief Akande should persuade Nigerians on how his party (APC) would address the problems of the Country as he is also reminded that the Country will come to a halt if all its problems are solved or resolved.

Opportunity comes but once. Chief Akande wants to use his appointment to gain cheap publicity. Unfortunately, you cant rise while pulling someone down because he that is pulling someone down is always below whom he is trying to pull down.

Akande or not, we all know GEJ is dull, slow and clueless. He's the worst president ever produced in Nigeria. Everybody knows that. But, for the fact that you're getting your share of the largesse, I wouldn't expect you to say the truth anyways.
Chief Akande is an elderly man, he had been there done that. Last time I checked, experience they say is the best teacher. For him to have called that retardeen a kindagarten, I bet, he is justified and everybody in his normal senses knows that.
2015 is here anyways, let's see how our nation's #1 Kindagarten would be voted in again....#gbams#

It is not good to talk anyhow like a wayward market woman just because you have a mouth otherwise you might be insulted by people old enough to be even your grandchildren. Akande should have criticized mr president & respected his old age.

GOODLUCK MUST PROVE TO NIGERIANS HE IS NOT A KINDERGATEN.
HE MUST RAISE HIS BRAIN PROFICIENCY FROM REARING ANIMALS(ZOOLOGIST) INTO LEADING HUMANS(HOMO SAPIENS).
THIS IS NOT DONE IN WORDS, BUT ACTIONS.

I PITY THE FACT THAT, A MORE ACTIVE PRESIDENT WOULD HAVE CAUTION THOSE SPOILING HIS NAMES.

1. MADDAM PEJU-SHEPO.
2. PIG OKU-IGBE
3. RUBISH ABATI

HE WANTED THEM TO HELP HIM, BUT THEY ARE THE ONE SPOILING SHOW FOR HIM MOST.
REMEMBER, OKU-IGBE WAS SACKED FOR HIS OVER-BEARING TENDENCIES UNDER OBJ.
HE HAD SEEN A WEAKER VESSEL IN JONA SO HE IS GOING MILES WITHOUT CAUTION.

THIS TRIO IN GOOLUCK'S MIDFIELD ARE THE ONE CUTTING OFF THE DEFENCE FROM HIS ATTACK AND VICE VERSA.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD LUCK.

An empty can makes the LOUDEST noise. Yes PDP are not perfect. But they got experience and they know what is at stake. I will rather stick to PDP than APC.
APC are amateurs and I bet you when given the opportunity they will perform worst than any one can ever imagine.

YOU CAN NOT MAKE THAT CONCLUSION UNLESS YOU HAVE GIVEN THEM THE OPPORTUNITY.
OUT OF 14 YEARS YOU ALREADY HAVE GIVEN PDP, IT IS WISE IF YOU TEST ANOTHER WITH JUST 4 YEARS AND SEE IF THEY ARE WORSE.
IF PROVEN TO BE WORSE AS YOU PRESUMED, YOU RETURN TO YOUR PDP OR LOOK FOR ANOTHER APART FORM THOSE ALREADY TESTED.

FRIEND,"ONLY A MAD MAN DO SAME THING SAME WAY, BUT EXPECTS DIFFRENT RESULTS"

NOT YOU PLEASE, IT IS JUST A QUOTE PROVEN RIGHT.
