Smash colonisation! smash imperialism! These ugly twins have done a lot of evils and havoc on our beautiful continent. Enough is enough! Imperalists have imposed on africans a depressing culture of consumerism, they even went as far as trying to erase our history and potray africans to the world as a continent without a history. but thanks to activists like Kwame Nkrumah, shelley, martin luther king and dubois for their sacrifices, vision, passion and hard work in preventing this from happening.

The first havoc that our enemies have done to mother africa, is by potraying a negative and misleading image of Africa and africans on the media for the world to digest which promotes racism and injustice. The western media potray africa as a jungle, a place that even a pig would blush when taken there to live in. They show-case to the world the images of naked men and women living in villages in africa, without considering the negative impact it would have on the ignorant viewers and the reduction in the dignity of the african race.

This issue was raised up by a pan africanist, in a pan- african meeting held last week in london. She was angry at the injustice and the inhumanity of the imperalist media, in the stigmatization of africans. Can't we put forward this case in the high court for justice to be done? she asked. Hell no was the anwser she was given. our oppressors the imperalists are the judges in the court and of course they would manipulate the case as they have always done the past , to justify their actions. Just last month, a uk professor wrote on the newspaper "if the intelligence and intellects of africans are combined, it would only sum up to seventy percent" - meaning that black people are 30 percent inferior than white people. This is very derogatory and insulting, but what can we do? Abosolutely nothing, except we fight for our freedom against this treatment. This isn't an easy battle, but i know that God will see us through.

Secondly, africans are often potrayed as poverty striken people; with the billions of charity adverts shown on the media by our oppressors. This act makes me angry , why? Because the imperalists are the cause of the problems that innundates africa. They work in collaboration with the african leadersin exploiting the masses.

The key to africa's development is in the secret court of the imperalists and except we destroy their court, by smashing imperalism and neo-colonisation, Africa's situation will continue to grow worse, and the people will continue to live in ignorance.

1)unfair trade deals at the WTO ensure that mother Africa remains a poor continent forever. the so called foreign aid is just another weapon to keep us in debt and socio-economic bondage.

2)they use our brain dead, pot bellied leaders to ensure a steady destruction of our socio-political system.

3)when we eventually got democracy and wanted to fight the corruption thier western media uses to dress our society, they have been hesitant to release all the looted funds in their banks.

4) they come to the niger delta, destroy the land and leave the people in abject poverty with destroyed environment. they bribe their way to dodge taxes and fees, buy big jeeps that can ply those roads which they and their collaborators in high places in govt could have tarred.

5)they treat us like criminals at their embassies even our professors are treated less than a cleaner in london would be treated.

6)when they see enterprising African leaders with a vision and a mission they work together to smash such leaders. e.g patrice lumumba, kwame nkrumah(any CIA agent in da house?) oh i forgot MKO,(hey Condy Rice!!how are u ma?)

7)WHO was busy struggling with health problems of Africa decades ago, they decided to financially strangulate WHO b/c the organ refused to recommend expensive brand of drugs the so called foreign aid wanted african countries to use. today, they control WHO and even now we hear World Bank carrying out health programmes. what concerns World Bank with global health when WHO is there? just to tie African govts to their prescriptions which has not reliefed health problems in Africa

coolthey found it difficult to send peace keepers to rwanda and liberia but there was steady flow of sophisticated arms for the war to continue. how many African countries can produce weapons

9)i did not include the issue of slave trade. that one,if it should be discussed should be in another thread.

10)their biggest weapons are the idiots called African leaders

God save us

Leave slavery off the table.

After all the most powerful African in the world is a descendants of the slaves. Condileeza Rice.

Why should Africans make some ties with her?

Carry on. Another smashing idea from Africans.

This topic has been rehashed over and over again on this board. But here are my views.

Singling out colonialism as the root of problems in Africa is akin to calling a dog a bad name. Colonialism has its merits and demerits. We have been independent since 1960, and what do we have to show for gaining independence? You complain of foreign embassies giving our professors the cavalier treatment. But how come? What efforts are our government putting in place to stem the exodus of our competent brains from leaving the country? Why can't we just focus on our problems, blame our leaders instead of blaming foreigners? Look at Darfur, mired in famine. What are AFrican leaders doing to curb this heart rending episode in Sudan, other than embezzling money, while subjecting their citizens to a lifetime of misery and hunger. Visit some states in Nigeria and you will weep at the stories that some civil servants will narrate to you. Non payment of salaries, compounded by a high cost of living. The conflict in Congo, was it started by the white man? I doubt it.

While I applaud Nkrumah for his attempt to foster unity in Africa, at the same time, his regime was dogged/besmirched with stories (true or false) of torture against his opponents, juju involvement and corruption.

So, lets forget about the ills of colonialism at the present time and work on how to achieve peace and prosperity in our continent. Lets stop blaming the white man for past faults. Our 'brothers' in government, some of them are worse than these imperialists that you have singled out for your diatribe.

Ndipe,

Can you give me an example of any country in the world at any time in the history of the world that became one unified entity without having a common enemy?
Re: Let's Smash Colonisation by toshmann(m): 12:39pm On Jun 09, 2006
@drussila,
i didn't get ur direction. u talk of the most powerful African being a decendant of the slaves. i ask u, how has that bettered africans, and who is this most powerful african serving? she is serving a descendant of the masters.aint it?if she wants to serve her peeps, how successful will she be. she just plays out the instruction of the masters. aint it?
@ ndipe,
i mhave to remind u that i said the greatest weapon in the hand of the "masters" are the african leaders. these brain dead people are used to destroy the continent further. wanna know how? their nefarious appetite plunged the continent into debt. the borrowed money which the west knew was not being used to develop africa and the money ends up in european banks. europe gains while african dies. frustration sets in violence brews and with it the arms trade. where do the arms come from. it is complex my dear, the african leaders are culpable, yes. but they are brain dead. however the west knows the consequences of this situation and yet they encourage these african fools(leaders). that is pure wickedness.

toshman,

That is the point. What does Condileeza Rice have to do with Africa?

Jews of course certainly know what Condileeza Rice has to do with Africa.

So when they wanted to make a big stink about Darfur to draw attention to evil Muslims as evil people who do the same as they do in Israel.

What did they do? Started hollaring loudly to everybody in America that Arabs were enslaving Black Africans!

Now change has to come in Sudan.

You should visit websites, where Black Muslims desparately try to convince African Americans that the Northern Sudanese are Black also.

They know that the Jews did them in by making it seem as if white Arabs were enslaving Black Africans in Sudan.

Now every Black group in America is up in arms and something is being done about Darfur.

Sudan has been a mess towards southerners from way back, and most of the people in Darfur are muslims.

So why only recently has the world outcry wratched up?

You never know the power a Condileeza Rice has.

Rice tells Sudan to act on Darfur

Condoleezza Rice says Sudan must do more to end violence to women
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has said the government of Sudan has a "credibility problem" regarding Darfur.

She demanded "action not words" to stop the violence in Darfur, during a visit to a camp housing some of the 2m people displaced by the conflict there.

Ms Rice earlier met Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir and John Garang, the new vice-president and former rebel leader.

In talks marred by scuffles between US and Sudanese staff, she told Mr Bashir he must end the crisis in Darfur.

Ms Rice later flew to Israel, where she is due to hold talks on its planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

I have said, 'actions not words' Condoleezza Rice

In her meeting with Mr Bashir, Ms Rice stressed that the US would hold him to account if he failed to act, particularly in stopping violence to women.

Ms Rice told reporters: "I said to the Sudanese government that they had a credibility problem with the international community, I have said, 'actions not words'."

She said speaking to abused women and humanitarian workers at the Abu Shouk camp, which houses some 55,000 displaced people, had made plain the crisis facing Darfur.

The secretary of state suggested the US might consider lifting some sanctions against Sudan on humanitarian grounds.

Villages destroyed

Ms Rice earlier demanded and received an apology after US officials and journalists were manhandled by Sudanese security staff at Mr Bashir's residence in Khartoum.

Journalists and some US aides were initially prevented from entering the meeting room, while some of those who tried to ask questions about Darfur were forcibly removed.

Ms Rice had said she hoped stability could be restored in Sudan, following a peace accord in the separate conflict in the south and the creation of a new unity government.

The US has described the violence in Darfur as genocide.

At least 180,000 people have died and about two million people have been forced from their homes in the two-year conflict in Darfur, blamed mainly on the pro-government supporter of APC militias.

US aid official Andrew Natsios said a reported drop in violence in the region since January was chiefly because there were no villages left to burn down.

The United Nations estimates 2,000 Sudanese villages have been completely or partially destroyed.
