Have had my fill with the tribal bashing and ethnic discord going on in here, the rivalry though amusing is at the same time disheartening and irrelevant.

Tantrums are hurled at ethnic groups as if it's nothing and the almighty mods are just mere onlookers with little or no power to curb the ethnic insurgencies surging up at every given opportunity on this cyber niche.

Nairaland is now a revered anti ethnic site were religious bigots nd (e)cyber militants flaunt their tribal muscles, it all started with Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe who are both from distinct and awesome tribes, the question raised then was about who had the best literary prowess and towering IQ but it all took a new dimension and veered into something nasty and violent, the anti ethnic bandwagon is still in motion and it accrues more discordant motion with no intention to come to a halt.

Can the ethnic whip lashing and all be stopped, if it can be stopped then it's something of a collective effort rather than a subjective one, the mods alone can't handle this nauseating pile let's assist them by shunning threads with ethnic undertones and if you must comment do so on a low key.

No tribe is better than the other cz each is plagued with it own pecuilar shortcomings and woes, so enough with the tantrums cz it's obviously not getting our damn nation anywhere.

Am just doling out what I think is the best for this site and Nigeria as a whole. after all we can't do without each other cz the moment we think we can then na total relapse be that.

First, ethnic and religious bigotism is legal in Nigeria. The constitution empowers and encourages such with clauses like federal character, quota system and indigenization.

Now, as much as I want the Nairaland mgt to put its foot down on bigotism, folks are only begining to talk about real underlying issues some were afraid to talk about. The only bad part of the ongoing debate is that they do it sentimentally and with bias...and so much lies.

These underlying issues have been there prior to civil war. It even became worst when after the civil war...people were not allowed to talk about the war and what brought about it. The government forbade teachers from teaching such history.

There was lot of silence from 1970 till recently when internet came to Nigeria...then hell broke loose when ETISELAT came with free MB. tongue cheesy
