gioneerp2: Initial review after using the stock rom of Walton Primo F2 for about an hour on Gionee Pioneer P2:

GOODS...
1. Works like a charm.
2. Less bloatware.
3. Stock android launcher! None of the crappy stuff Gionee put into the phone.
4. Very close to pure android.
5. Adobe flash player comes pre-installed, so does MX player
6. Great support for the Bengali language since it is from Bangladesh. If you want to use Bengali for texts or IMs this ROM is a delight!
7. Good selection of ringtones. Nice little chimes and ting tings.

BADS:
1. No update channel. They are pretty much making it clear that you are pretty much left on your own; no future goodies from the sky.
2. The auto brightness sucks. At one point it started to go up and down on its own. Switch to manual brightness and problem solved.
3. No google keyboard. Only AOSP.
4. The boot animation sucks.
5. The colour combination used in the dialler app is ugly. P2 had a better sense of aesthetics in that one.

Well, that's about it. Will post more when I get to know it better. For now the system is working smooth like butter

born2fuck: Just got my P2 afternoon before celebrating with Bleep with olosho yesterday evening, I just dey press ham but wetin bi rooting. I never use android before, my bb still dey. Even torch keyboard never sweet me yet, abeg wetin be rooting and how can I upgraded and added ram, how can I install, I bi johny just come for android, make I no vex give d phone to my babe oooO, helep me please

Rooting is just to give u better access to ur fone and able to go over some restrictions attached to ur fone..

Better productive apps can be used once rooted

Download grassroots and install easily if u feel like rooting it oo

I just sent somone to buy me a gp2 from lag, but I hav a few questions please.
1. Is there any app in playstore to rectify lack of autofocus in gp2, and does d phone has touch light?
2. I have used an iphone 3g and I'v handled a tecno p3. Pardon my ignorance though, is gp2 as smooth like dose 2 phones? Am not a gamer but an heavy browser and I thinks those phone have satisfy my need over time.
3. Is d camera as sharp as iphone 3g or tecno p3? I kno dat dose specs are low but once d camera quality is not lesser than any of those,am satisfied.
4. Lagging!!! I hope lag is only attributed to gaming only,not browsin?once browsing is smooth am satisfy.
Note, dis is my first android phone, em a BB and iphone addicted, so I just ask those questions as to kno weda to choose anoda phone b4 d person buys gp2 for me. I love buyin phones that portrails my need not neccerily on popularity. Pls do me good by clearify those questions above. Thanks

note: is only working on mtn network only. send "gionee pioneer p2" to 131. you can get up to 1GB if you are not using it

yes, it will not expire, if you're not using it on the first day, it will added on the following day making 4mb, so if you are continue like that, you'll get 1GB
