Says Critics deliberately turn blind eye to PDP's huge Achievements for selfish reasons

President Goodluck Jonathan at the weekend said that despite the refusal of opposition parties to acknowledge the achievements of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party has kept the promise of transforming the country.

The President said this at the party’s Special Convention held at the Eagles Square, Abuja adding that the PDP is the only party that has retained its identity since three parties were registered in 1998.

He reiterated the fact that PDP is the only party that is not aligned to any ethic, religious or regional interest. He further added that other parties have imploded along the way or subsumed their identity in search of political direction and relevance.

He said PDP is not just the party of the present, but it is the party of the future, adding it does not fight destitutes but destitution.

The President said the PDP has remained a strong fortress of hope for Nigerians but has remained focus on building a greater Nigeria.

President Jonathan listed some of the achievements of the PDP in the various sector of the economy in the telecoms, agriculture, aviation, transportation, roads, water resources, education among others.

The President said, “The process of building and enduring political institution is difficult, thankless but ultimately rewarding.

“We are gathered here at Eagles Square to uphold our tested values of our great party internal democratic culture as well as chart a new course and way forward for our party.

“Our great party which is widely acclaimed as the biggest in Africa, is the only Nigerian party that has been growing in leaps and bounds. It is the only Nigerian party that is not aligned to any ethnic, religious or regional interest. It is the only party that is collectively owned by Nigerians. We are very proud of our heritage and we will never betray the trust that the majority of Nigerians reposed in us.

“The PDP is the party for patriots, for those who for partisan reasons continue to deny or feign ignorance of the progress Nigeria has made under the PDP leadership listen to me.

“Telephone penetration has grown from 400,000 in 1999 before the PDP came on board to over 120 million today. Our telecom sector has grown to be the biggest in Africa and one of the fastest growing in the world providing jobs for millions of Nigerians and creating a new generation of successful entrepreneurs and industrialists.

“The reforms in our communication sector are fuelling the boom in new media and supporting the development of our country. These are facts are critics never want to acknowledge.

“Under the PDP our banking sector has flourish. The branch network has grown tremendously, more branches means more assets. Our financial services are more jobs. Recapitlisation has grown in phenomenal proportion and so are the assets and loan portfolios.

And the systemic crisis that use to consume banks and depressed depositors have been well managed. Before this time, banks will collapse and some people will even commit suicide because they will take community and club money and put in their accounts and when banks collapsed and they have money to pay they commit suicide. From the beginning of PDP administration that is over.

“We now have a stable and healthy banking sector. Our banks are establishing branches all over the world, global markets are now very receptive to them. The crisis that rocked the capital market has been effectively addressed. The market is booming again. These are facts are critics never wish to acknowledge.

“Under the PDP our the education system has been undergoing a progressive revival after decades of neglect. Primary school enrolment figures are growing, a clear indication of the success of the universal basic education programme initiated by the federal government.

We have built over 120 Almajiri schools to take our children off the streets and give them a future. We are to build 300 more of such schools. We have launched back to school programme that are returning children back to school.

“The number of public and private universities have increased, providing opportunities for millions of young Nigerians who would have been derived of opportunity of university education owing to limited opportunities in existing ones.

To deepen our federalism and access to quality education, we have established nine new Federal universities in the northern party of the country and three in the southern part of the country in states where no federal universities previously existed. We have kept our promise these are facts our critics never wish to acknowledged.

“Our federal capital city, Abuja is undergoing transformation with the provision of improved infrastructure and services. The impressive road networks, new districts and the coming monorail line, all are to make Abuja a source of pride to all Nigerians. And of course this is being commended by our visitors both local and foreigners.

“Our believe that our critics don’t come into Abuja through our airport, they would seen the airport road. If they drive round Abuja, they would have seen the outter lanes and others. We have changed the face of Abuja.

“Under the PDP government we have embarked on massive infrastructural development that all the geo-political zones are being linked up and people are acknowledging that driving across the country is now less painful. Though we are yet to get to where we want to, surely PDP will lead Nigeria to where we want to go.

“Great progress has been made in the rehabilitation and the reconstruction of the Kano-Maiduguri express way, Abuja-Lokoja express way, Ontisha- Owerri express way and the Benin-Shagamu express way.

So in 14 years, PDP gave out licenses for GSM, bank policies, built some school and roads, renovated airports and paid salaries - Can someone tell Jona that Nigerians want the balance of the trillions PDP and his govt have stolen over the years!

Jonathan should continue supervicing the corruption of his administration, but he should stop insulting us while at it.

He talked about the development of a modern FCT in Abuja. I guess you have been to Abuja?
Lots of investments in Power Projects with about 15 Power Plants added. I promise you improved power supply soon.
12 brand new universities and about 16 University Teaching hospitals have been built. Pay a visit to the permanent sites of University Teaching hospital Zaria, Port Harcourt, Jos, Maiduguri, Calabar, Kano, Ilorin, Abakaliki, etc Our roads have never been this good. In your mischievous mind, you preferred to present your own list.

So after your calculations what is the balance (I mean the one that have been stolen/looted away). He either refund what the PDP have stole in the past 14yrs. Else he should quietly enjoy the proceeds and stop insulting Nigerians with this decimal efforts of his party.

"He reiterated the fact that PDP is the only
party that is not aligned to any ethic, religious
or regional interest."

This man Jonathan is a risk to this nation and must be done away with as soon as posible!!

All he does is bring religion and ethnicity into political discourse all the time and any sane mind knows those three make for a lethal cocktail!

This is the reason why Nigerians now look at their age long neighbors with sheer skepticism and treat them like aliens as long as they are from a different religious or ethnic group. These devides existed long before the emergence of that retard and no one realy cared about them, but now he has magnified their significance so much so that they seem to be the only currency for political patronage!

Yet gullible Nigerians keep falling for this mess, always thinking and asking "what tribe is he", "where's he from", "what's his religion" before lending their suport to whoever aspires to an office, ignoring the all important question of ""what are his antecedents?".

Jonathan has ruined this country!!!
