BREAKING: Ex Militants Back GEJ For Second Term, Say Oil Theft Must Continue by Kairoseki77: 6:06am On Sep 07, 2013
One of the ex-militant leaders in the Niger Delta, Dr. Ebikabowei Victor Ben, alias ‘General Boyloaf’, has said that oil theft in the Niger Delta will not stop until the Federal Government takes appropriate steps to compensate the natives of the region.

Boyloaf, who is one of the Niger Delta ex-agitators, who brokered the amnesty deal with the late President Umaru YarÁdua, said in Abuja that oil theft had soared in the region because the owners of the land where the oil facilities crisscross did not feel any sense of belonging after many decade of oil production.

Boyloaf also said that those who are making use of crude oil found in their back yards should not be referred to as ‘oil thieves’ as they were only making use of their God-given resources.

Boyloaf

Boyloaf

“I hate to hear the word ‘oil thieves or oil theft’ because the people you want to label as thieves are simply trying to make use of their God-given resources. In other words what they are doing is the legitimate ‘resource control’ that we have been talking about.

“The truth of the matter is that the Niger Delta people are simply controlling their resources and not stealing any oil,” Boyloaf said.

Boyloaf said the ongoing problem in the Niger Delta was as a result of the negation of the original terms of the amnesty deal, which they entered into with the Federal Government in June 2009.

He regretted that what was being implemented by the government under the guise of amnesty fell short of the character and spirit of what they signed with the YarÁdua government, adding that Nigerians should ask the government why certain components of the deal were not implemented till date.

While accusing politicians, who were not part of the amnesty, of hijacking the programme, Boyloaf alleged that the key components of the programme like the offer of lifeline and rehabilitation of former agitators had been abandoned by the Federal Government.

“We were abandoned and turned into beggars once we accepted amnesty. Today, what you have in the name of amnesty is not what we signed with Yar’Adua.

He said that the stoppage of the oil pipeline protection contracts, which were awarded to former agitators, was one of the factors responsible for the rise of oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.

According to him, the stoppage of the oil protection jobs has forced the natives to resort to other jobs in a bid to survive and warned that the next phase of the Niger Delta crisis may be worse than the previous one if the government fails to implement the terms of the amnesty to the letter.

Boyloaf, who also accused security agencies of aiding and abetting oil theft, challenged them to show why the big names that are behind the illicit trade have never been exposed and brought to justice.

According to him, it is only the few local players, who are unwilling to play along with the security agencies that are often arrested and paraded as oil thieves, while those who comply with the conditions imposed by the security agencies are often freed.

He said,” Nigerians must be made to know clearly that over 75 percent of the oil said to be stolen in the Niger Delta belongs to the security agencies and they must be held responsible for the rising theft.

“If the government is serious about the issue of oil theft, it must revisit the surveillance contract and empower communities and stakeholders to take up the responsibility of protecting the pipelines, which run through their back yards.’’

On the 2015 election, Boylaof claimed that although he was not a politician, Nigerians must allow President Jonathan to run out his two terms as provided for in the Nigerian Constitution.

He said, “The decision to run for a second term is solely that of President Jonathan; if he so wishes, he is allowed by law to do so.
“I strongly believe that no group of persons should harass or intimidate him from exercising his right. I will not go out of my way to ask the President to run for a second term. It is his decision he alone has to make.

“Let me take seize this opportunity to appeal to our northern brothers not to mistake our resolve to maintain peace in the Niger Delta region as a form of weakness. Nobody should blame our people when they react forcefully on issues associated with these matters and many other unwarranted attacks on our sons and daughters by those who think they own Nigeria and our commonwealth and think that the Niger Delta people must continue to be subservient to them. A word is enough for the wise,” he warned.

Boyloaf also said that the furore surrounding the sale of the OPL 245 to Dan Etete, former Petroleum Minister, should be allowed to rest, as he was not the only Nigerian, who was allocated an oil block.

Just listen to that!!!!
This is what you get when you have a disfunctional and accutely irresponsible government in place.

This criminal just told the government in other words "yes I'm one of those responsible for the much talked about oil theft, a crime against the State, what can you do about it??". And guess what, the government is gonna , in their usual character, look the other way!

As long as the PDP remains at the center, charlatans and bandits like this will continually ply their criminal trade with impunity.

On another note, imagine what news would have made the rounds had Boko Haram accepted amnesty and then we read a headline like "Ex terrorist backs Buhari for presidency"! Your guess is as good as mine.

ND militants don't realize the money that goes to their pockets is money that could go toward improving their region.

See such statement! See how bold he was in making such incriminating statements that normally would have him detained by security agencies in a sane country...

With this utterance, it is VERY clear these militants have the backing of Jonathan as they normally wouldn't be bold enough to say such things if it were another person at the helm of government. Jonathan directly and indirectly sponsors these people, quote me anywhere!

@Topic.

Here we have it. The truth and the "real mission" as revealed by the direct 'representatives' of GEJ. Now you have the glaring confession that we are not dealing with oil theft but with "resource control". I think, for those not dishonest and totally amoral, it is crystal clear what GEJ is abetting. Now, his concession of pipeline protection contracts to militant warlords makes perfect sense same as how the master of the thieves is the family member who gets up to open the door at 11pm so his gang can gain entry to rob everyone while he feigns shock and distress when his armed robber buddies arrive.

The revelation oil theft is now at the highest and most deplorable level for a long time now seems perfectly in order and a planned consequence of a "resource control" agenda.

With an ethnic President committed to helping these guys settle 'scores' against Nigeria, why will militants, many now becoming billionaires faster than you can say "bunkering", not be the latest voices to be vehemently insisting it must be GEJ in 2015?

“I hate to hear the word ‘oil thieves or oil theft’ because the people you want to label as thieves are simply trying to make use of their God-given resources. In other words what they are doing is the legitimate ‘resource control’ that we have been talking about.

“The truth of the matter is that the Niger Delta people are simply controlling their resources and not stealing any oil,” Boyloaf said.

Sincerely I've been in the creeks and I can sincerely tell you that the oil thieves are mainly responsible for the degradation because they apply little health, safety and environmental standard while engaging in their illicit trade. The truth is that the Niger Delta consists of majority good people and its just poverty that makes it easy for these people to recruit and spoil small boys. Many people are not happy with the militants.

The major problem I have with most of the riverine people is a false belief that Igbos are mainly responsible for the under-development of the region. They often site the wrongs of Igbos in the Eastern region that lasted only 6 years out of Nigeria's over 50 years as a reason for the neglect while failing to put Jonathan on his toes with regards to paying more attention to infrastructural development since 2009.

Unfortunately, it is the Government of GEJ abetting this brazen theft against the Nation. This is why bunkering is now at an all time high with militant warlord having the effrontery to brag that the Niger Delta is merely carrying out "resource control" when the rest of the world only sees self-aggrandizing oil bunkering.

We should ask what these caring 'Robin Hoods' are doing for the communities they are carrying out "resource control" on behalf of. The world is not fooled. They only sees the enrichment of the 'might is right crew' some now want to tag as "resource control" while ordinary folks are worse off despite "their son" being in charge. Very wicked people who have perfected the art of wickedly and mercilessly enslaving their own while they pretend others are their problem.

Thank you. For me, currently, many ND leaders epitomises man's wickedness against his fellow man. These crooks have perfected the art of looting and enslaving their own people only to distract the attention of those poor people via pointing senselessly and distractingly at others.

There is virtually no help the ND needs right now that it is not getting. Granted the region has been neglected and abused regrettably in the past. Now the regions own sons and daughters are in an empowered position to seize the moment and better the lot of their long-suffering folks yet they remain myopically obsessed with self-aggrandizement, unconscionable looting, acquisition of private jets and choice mansions plus, worst of all, the unpatriotic theft of the commonwealth meant to develop their own people and region.

To make matters worse, these people, as Boyloaf is doing here, get away with deceiving their own people that others are the problem and that they are "righting the wrong" lining their own pockets. If Niger Deltans do not start identifying and dealing with their own worst enemy, who are be right under their noses and close to home, then they will still be in the same position in the next 30 years while every callous thief, posing as a champion of the people, is mouthing rhetoric to justify his own selfish theft.

This sort of brazen criminality can only occur when president is actual a fifth columnist working in Aso Rock to divide Nigeria, these oil thieves must be fought to the bitter end, if not why are the militants getting richer and richer while the every day Niger deltan is left to wallow in extreme poverty? God that saved us from Abacha would save Nigeria once more, these criminals who are only after their welfare must be brought to justice immediately! So it has reached a level where thieves will come boldly and say people should not call them thieves but a different name. Can we now say the contract given to Asari Dokubo & Co to safeguard oil pipelines and prevent oil theft is just a ruse disguised to make some people rich? And we call what we have now a government? My guy, you are talking to someone incapable of thinking far enough to see what is obvious. Even if the ND, with the collusion of the Presidency, is involved in a 'Robin Hood' mission against Nigeria will it not better that the rest of us infer this ourselves than for the unthinking simpletons from the region to reveal proudly and unapologetically that this is what they are doing ?

Is it not obvious to some that this will only lead to politicians closing ranks against the ND in future? As it is now some people should hope GEJ, on behalf of the ND, better hold on to power forever or Nigeria splits if he does not. Otherwise the loud-mouths and crooks in the ND have ruined things for the region via portraying it as one only interested in using power as a tool of hijacking the nation's income and holding everyone else to ransom despite efforts, more than any other time in history, to ensure the ND is developed.

Doubly tragic that ND sons/daughters themselves are squandering the chance to improve their own region, even with vast resources and political positions they control, with the world only seeing them mercilessly looting the patrimony of their fellow men while deceitfully highlighting a vendetta against others.

It is obvious even the most liberal politician would not want us to be in this position again. The ND must now retain power forever or accept that when it moves away from them political power-brokers will only remember the negatives, lack of stability, rancour, division, disharmony and alienation of others that the reign of GEJ, who they backed vociferously and clannishly, typified.

This is the problem with the approach of GEJ involving relegating intelligence to the background to make the Boyloafs of the world the new power-brokers, 'spokesmen' and Capos of the ND. These people are only capable of incendiary, criminal and senseless utterance that only worsen the position of their own people and region. Imagine anyone blatantly coming out to say oil theft is "resource control". Who, in their right mind, would willingly support people of such clannish mindset to lead Nigeria at the centre ever again?
