Anti-tithe Churches by Nobody: 11:41pm On Oct 06, 2013 |
To be frank, there has been so much debate on here about tithing and while I have completely stopped tithing I still find it hard to fit into churches that still practice this. I was wondering if others could share a list of churches that do not preach tithing. Waiting for the likes of Drummaboy, Goshen, Pastor Kun, Candour and all others. GOD BLESS 3 Likes |

Processor01: To be frank, there has been so much debate on here about tithing and while I have completely stopped tithing I still find it hard to fit into churches that still practice this. Church of Christ does not collect tithes. They have congregations all over the country independent of one another. I'm sure they are in Lagos. Just discovered them middle of this year. I attend their bible studies often. If I can, I'll get address of the Lagos branches for you tommorow. |

There is nothing like anntitithe church. Some churches impose it compulsorily on members, others see is as voluntary.NO CHIRCH REJECT TITHE 2 Likes |

tobechi74: There is nothing like anntitithe church. You're wrong. Church of Christ that I mentioned do not mention tithe at all. Collection bags are passed accross once during service and you put whatever you want which they call collections. Then the amount collected is announced at service end. This happens only on sundays. No percentages, NO TITHE. Heard JW operate this style too but I've not being there so can't say it with authority |

Candour: Error! Error !! Error !!! Jw dont make announcement for monetary offering/collection nor collect offering/collection, do not do collection of any kind during their bible study gathering at all in anyway. At least, ^ that am aware of. 'All' giving are exclusively 'voluntary' contribution into boxes at the extreme back in their halls. No time ever dedicated for it during There religiouse bible study gathering. Detailed audit is done monthly. Peace |

It is funny that the Anglican Church in Nigeria teaches tithing when the Anglican Church in the UK does not teach or practise tithing. Also, most of the traditional denominations e.g. Roman Catholics, Baptists etc in the UK do not teach or practise tithing. Because of the tight control of Rome over Roman Catholics, I will be surprised if the Catholics in Nigeria overtly teach tithing since Rome does not teach it anymore AFAIK! I suppose the case of the Anglicans is understandable because of the loose nature of the Communion's churches in different countries as compared to the Catholics for example. In the UK, among oyinbo churches (except for some Pentecostals), tithing is an irrelevance that is hardly discussed and rarely mentioned. |
Re: Anti-tithe Churches by God2man(m): 9:33am On Oct 09, 2013 |
What is the meaning of this? Where do anti-tithers stand? Anglicans are Not tithing in the U.K, you will be suprised if they are tithing here. Also, you will be suprised if Catholics are preaching tithing here, oyinbo churches are not tithing in the U.K except the pentecostals. Where do we go from here? God will help us. Re: Anti-tithe Churches by God2man(m): 11:55am On Oct 09, 2013 |
To all Anti-tithers on nairaland, Since you cannot mention 10 Anti-tithe churches all over the world, can we conclude that Anti-tithe doctrine is alien to christianity, especially in Nigeria? If this is not true, then Jehovah witness and church of christ stand out as the only Anti-tithe churches, while Catholics(not sure), Anglicans(not sure), and Baptist(not sure) in the U.K are somehow divided on the doctrine of Anti- tithing. My conclusion is that, Anti-tithe doctrine is NOT familiar with all the doctrine believed by all Churches all over the world, it is a demonic doctrine from the pit of hell to deceive christian and eventually send them to hell. However, i am waiting for 10 churches from all over the world that adhered strictly to Anti-tithe doctrine. God bless you. God2man. 1 Like |

^^^ What the post above demonstrates is that some of these tithe-mongers are ignoramuses, ignorant of Christian history and even incapable of learning/acknowledging the truth. Tithing was not part of Christianity from the day of Pentecost until only a few hundred years ago when some greedy (and even desperate) opportunists introduced it and some other greedy opportunists have seized on it since ---- even when the first greedy lot who introduced it have since repented of it. When a person asks for a list of churches that don't tithe, the person is just showing his ignorance of Christianity and that all he knows is Nigerian Pentecostal Christianity. I mean we can speak of various Eastern Orthodox Churches, the Roman Catholic Church, and e.g. in UK Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists etc etc. Compared to this, while Nigerian Pentecostalism may be broad, it is a late comer compared to these much longer established traditions. In any event some evangelical and Pentecostal churches do not teach tithing. 3 Likes |

God2man: To all Anti-tithers on nairaland, Same way Martin Luther started as a lone voice against the Catholic church that made it possible for you to attend a pentecostal church today and not be forced into the Catholic church. So also everybody thought Martin Luther was strange when he campaigned against sale of indulgences even though everybody believed then that it was a practice sanctioned by God. So also everybody thought Martin Luther was wrong when he translated the bible into German because the general belief then was that there were specific languages to read the bible in. My bro, this is not a popularity contest. A brother wants to find a church that he can attend without hearing lies about tithes. Tithes have been with us since 585AD and monetary tithes since 1873AD doesn't make them right. What happened to the 550 years between the birth of the church in Jerusalem and the council at Macon that brought tithing back into Christianity and even then, Strictly Agric produce? Tithing is foreign to Christianity. Catholic Church brought it back to cater for the clergy and the POOR(even though the poor do not feature in the pentecostal churches of today) only for Charlatans and greedy people to convert it to monetary tithes to line their pockets less than 200 years ago. More and more Churches and Christians who are not controlled by their bellies and covetousness will come up and more and more Christians will come to know the truth. You can see those who are getting it for the first time even on NL. The fact that a crowd is doing something doesn't make it right. hope you know that? 3 Likes |

@Enigma,candour, pastor kun, You have all shifted ground to another thing. Simple question begging for answers. Give us 10 Anti-tithe churches from all over the world. All the churches you have mentioned are all in the U.K, and these churches have the same doctine as the one in Nigeria, or are you saying that catholics, anglicans, baptist and methodis in Nigeria have different doctrine from the one in U.K? Yes! For the fact everyone is doing it doest not make it right. You have forgotten to add that what everyone is doing has Biblical backing. Yes, everyone is doing it, why? They stood on the promise of God, they are not just following crowd, they are following the scripture, the WORD, and that WORD is JESUS. So, One with God is the Majority. It does not mattter whether you are many or not, the truth is, you are following the promise of God concerning tithe. They have started insult, "i am ignorant about church history" Goggle it. All the info about church history are there for you. God bless you. God2man. 2 Likes |

God2man: @Enigma,candour, pastor kun, Oh yeah, like you have not "started insult" when you were repeatedly calling people "anti-tithers"? Or like you were not condescending in your posts on this thread --- even if ignorantly so! An ignorant person is an ignoramus; it is not an insult, it is fact; only that out of politeness one doesn't use the word 'ignoramus' until it is invited or its use deserved. And you say people should google church history --- but of course you are not able to use Google to find out which churches do not teach tithing. And you think the Christian Church is confined to Nigeria? 2 Likes |
Re: Anti-tithe Churches by Candour(m): 1:25pm On Oct 09, 2013 |
God2man: @Enigma,candour, pastor kun, We all started out believing that tithing was a Christian doctrine until we learnt otherwise, the same way the entire Christian world believed INDULGENCES was God ordained until Martin Luther started a one man army to abolish it enabling you to be free from that particular lie. The OP asked for churches that do not preach tithes and brethren who know told him. I believe there are others for instance christemmbassey is a pastor in one in Calabar called LIVING WATERS(not so sure of the name now) so there you have another one. You are the one who wants to know how many Churches DO NOT collect tithes. No single person on this thread has exaggerated the number of Churches who don't preach tithing. Do you want to start attending one? If you wish to, let us know so we can help you locate one close to your house. Is your Christianity based on the number of people practicing a particular doctrine? or is this your new strong argument for tithing? Dont argue this line o......It's not an intelligent one. Even your more knowledgeable comrades in tithes will not be quick to jump to your support. It is a VERY WEAK PREMISE to stand on |
Re: Anti-tithe Churches by Enigma(m): 1:40pm On Oct 09, 2013 |
Actually, it is not difficult to identify ten "churches" that do not practise tithing. By the time you add various Eastern Orthodox Churches, or, outside of that, various national Churches e.g. example being given by the lady nora534(??) {an Austrian?) on other threads and even some Pentecostal Churches like Mcarthur's church etc, you will readily count more than ten. It is possible that you can count up to ten that do not teach tithing (eg Petres 007's church) or that do not teach it in the same way as the predominant teaching e.g. Tunde Bakare's church etc. ---- even in Nigeria. |

God2man: @Enigma,candour, pastor kun,My church also preaches that christian tithing is a false doctrine derived from fraudulently manipulating scriptures. |
Re: Anti-tithe Churches by PastorKun(m): 1:58pm On Oct 09, 2013 |
@God2man I can actually list over a hundred churches globally that don't subscribe to your fraudulent tithe doctrine but first of all you must give me ten good reasons why I should indulge your ignorance. |
Re: Anti-tithe Churches by God2man(m): 2:15pm On Oct 09, 2013 |
Pastor Kun: @God2man Answering question with question. Ten good reasons for you to indulge. Ah! It seems you have forgotten that this topic has been overflogged, recycled, debated, argued, discussed and fought over on nairaland, not only that if you search very well, you will discover that close to 100 threads have been created on this topic. So, where do i get the 10 good reasons for you. It is a waste of time. List those hundred churches, i am eagerly waiting. God2man. 2 Likes |
