Why do you want to be a moderator? Don't you know they get only 2k worth of recharge card annually for working their butts off.  Seriously though, it seems you want to be a moderator just for sake of being a moderator. That's like saying you want to be an actor or footballer just for the sake of being one. I mean you didn't even name the section you want to moderate. A moderator should have passion for the job, and that means dedication, maturity, wisdom, and endurance. He or she should also be knowledgeable in the section he is moderating. It's really not as easy as it seems, especially when you don't get paid. I'd personally advice you to drop that idea and fill your spare time doing things which are much more useful and meaningful. But if you really want to then look for a section you are really interested and knowledgeable in, try to build your rep there, and hopefully one day after much trying you might just be made one. 1 Like |

It's just that your way of achieving your goal is a little odd. It's like waking up in the morning and saying you want to be a governor, without any plan on how you'll achieve that. To be a governor you'll have to build you way up, the same thing you have to do to be a mod. The mod experience really isn't so bad, it can leave you with management and leadership skills, which will be vital for your future goals. But that's my issue, you are going to have to aim higher than that. And I get annoyed when I see mods letting their positions get to their heads as if they already rule the world. They make nairaland rule their lives, and their position, that of an unpaid mod of thousands of ghost monikers, becomes their greatest achievement in life. You definitely don't want to end up that way, and that's why even if you do get the position, you should look at it as an experience, a training ground, not a destination. 1 Like |
