It's a matter of time , not only Bida basin but also Sokoto, Benue and borno have huge deposits of oil and gas and all the 19 northern states have large deposits of precious minerals and then we can see where the Niger Delta will get food from- Greedy lazy lot. They could not fight for separate independence from British rule and now they insist that Nigerian national resources belongs to them alone.

and what have u just done?
eGuerrilla: He said the delay may have something to do with the non-passage of the Petroleum Industrial Bill(PIB)
since you know that the PIB hasn't being passed, why then will you say "Presidency halt oil exploiration in Niger state" ?

And yes,IT IS NIGER-DELTA OIL,jump into the lagoon if you don't like the fact.
Keep dreaming. Northern states have oil deposits and other natural resources that have been left unexplored. By the time the crude oil of the Niger Delta dries up, as it non-renewable, the north will start exploring their own. However, they will ensure they control it.

But come to think of it! This might just be true. Now that we southerners are exploring our oil and these bigoted parasitic northerners are reaping where they did not sow, if peradventure Nigeria divides and our (southerners) oil starts drying up (God forbid), then these boko haramas start exploring thier own oil, dont we think these people will enjoy thier crude oil assets all alone meanwhile they're parasites when we were exploring ours? I think we need to ponder on this and perhaps stop these fools from benefitting from OUR OYEL. Let them go and start exploring thier oil (if they have any).

chinziaski: We Nigerians are very dumb. I am serious.
We heard a goodnews about oil been found in some of our states, it became tribal war in nairaland.

This same mistake our father made, we want to make thesame?
This stupidity should stop brothers, you can fight all you want but you can't change one thing, we stuck together.

You all see the light at the end of this beautiful tunnel; taraba, sokoto, benue, maiduguri, etc having oil creates more employment and we can use the 70percent gas it supplies to end our power problem.

If these states utilize their oil, migration to lagos and some cities will be drastically reduced. Our hausa brothers will have respite and stop carrying bag of garri and other things for people. They will have to embrace education.

We should embrace this development with open arms.
More Nigerians should go into the building of refineries. They should make the building of refineries a communal project. Like buying shares, so that we can indirectly eat from these resources ourselves and not depend on government.

God created this country as a perfect country, a country to admire. We have changed it to a country to run from.

Let's embrace unity, its in unity we will grow
pls tell them....

Soon oil will be explored in the north and all those fools thinking that the north will be destroyed if we go our separate ways will be put to shame! In addition, we still maintain 70% of the country's landmass, agriculture will boom and the hydro electricity supply will be cut off to the south. That will mean 24 hour electricity for the north! Do Niger Deltans saw anything at all in their livelihood? Are there any farms there? Did they farm the oil? They are lazy food gatherers who depend entirely on the wild, Fish and palm trees. Even the Ogogoro they take everyday is from the wild .They never grow or breed anything and they now think our national mineral belongs to them only just because their raffia huts happen to be near the oil fields.Bloody obligate parasites.

have you ever been to the Niger-delta? Hmmm my village had hectars of rice farms, but because of oil spills, That's history now, before the exploration of oil in the Niger delta, we survived and without it, We'll survive! The north is just happy because They heard the black precious gold has been found close to their houses..something that would destroy their farmlands and bring more sorrow to them, They're celebrating cos of something that should make them weep..

NNPC Hides Facts On Oil Production - Gov Aliyu

October 9, 2013 - 3:56am

The governor of Niger State Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu has accused Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) of not disclosing the actual quantity of crude oil accruable to the country on daily basis.

This is just as he accused the federal government of halting oil exploration in the Bida basin.

Aliyu, who stated this yesterday while receiving the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Down stream led by its chairman, Hon. Dangogo Peterside, on a visit, also stated that no part of the country should be afraid of disintegration.

The governor stated that the NNPC was not declaring the actual production figures of oil per day and as such the organisation should be reorganised for more efficiency and productivity.

“Nobody knows how much oil is being produced in Nigeria”, he said while taking a swipe at the corporation for complicity in the incidence.

Reacting to the disclosure by the Commissioner for Mineral Development in the state Engineer Jibrin Abubakar that a committee on oil exploration in Bida had discovered that the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources was deliberately hindering exploration processes in the basin, Aliyu said the delay may be due to non-passage of the Petrol Industry Bill into law.

According to him, it has been established that oil deposit in the basin was of commercial quantity, saying that if Niger Republic and Chad had hit oil in large quantities, the prospects of oil in the north and in Niger State in particular should not be in doubt.

Earlier, the commissioner of mineral development had said, “We set up committee to find out what was happening after several months of not hearing from the ministry and we discovered that the letter was still on the minister’s table.”

According to him, the state cannot proceed to the next because approval was not granted.

Meanwhile, Aliyu also said that no community in Nigeria should be afraid of separation.

He said: “If some people want to go, they should go, we will survive. We are not scared of separation. The same was said of Niger Republic. Niger was the poorest country in the world, but today, if you see oil in Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto and Maiduguru, it would have come from Niger Republic. There is no way Niger and Chad can have oil and improve their economy and the north will not be able to do the same.”

However, the House Committee chairman, Hon Peterside, disagreed with Aliyu, saying it was unfair for anyone to say that the amount of oil being produced in the country was not known.

According to him, the problem was that of oil theft an effort must be put in place to ensure that oil theft is curtail.

Me_Aboki:

First of all, if you took offence to my post (which I suspect you actually did) then I'll advise you take it up with your brother for provoking me into responding in like manner.

Secondly, you have nothing to educate me concerning the issue at hand - which essentially was about the (false) sense of superiority expressed in the provoking post.
Unfortunately, adducing the sharing of the oil blocs to military power (as you put it) is an inadvertent admission to the superiority of the 'abokis' - that you guys so much despise.

Thirdly, Christianity has nothing to do with you ppl being peaceful (which isn't exactly true) while the same argument about the minority being involved in blowing up of pipelines can also be made concerning insurgents (BH) in the north, who incidentally are also in the minority.
Besides, if you ppl are so law abiding then why is criminality so rampant in the south: if its not kidnapping, it is armed robbery or ritualism, bunkering, drugs, prostitution, 419 ect - just to name a few.

Lastly, northerners are by no means parasites: you guys like to use this a lot, especially when referring to oil forgetting the fact that northerners who own majority of the blocs are in fact more involved in the oil production than southerners; also that it was the oyinbo man who discovered the oil, invested his money and technology into producing it; and is merely paying royalties (taxes) to the Nigerian government who in turn share it between its composite states (yeah, sharing - thats what you hate the most - cos you are damn too greedy).
The question therefore remains, where along the line are your own ppl's effort in generating this oil wealth, where is your industry or investment in it? Did you, your father, grandfather or ancestors plant this oil under the soil where the oyinbo found it? So what gives you the audacity to call anybody parasite, what are you producing that northerners are parasitizing on?
On the contrary, if anyone is parasitic its the southerners who pack themselves over to the north, abandoning (supposedly home sweet home) for the inhospitable desert north amid the threat of hostile boko boys, as economic refugees?
Go figure why they wouldn't go back, why leave the land of honey and oyel for poverty stricken almajiri arewa land?

Remember, for every finger of blame three are also pointing back at you - just food for thought.

Of course not, you resemble a bush monkey, a cannibalistic one with prominent canine teeth for effective tearing of the flesh of your unfortunate victim. angry

My dear Cuche, what i wrote about Ngige were facts and to set the record straight, i expect you to return facts to dispute them, however ,returning "no facts" and ending up with the word "biased" is an insult, so the two options you have are

1 dispute the claims with counter facts OR
2 shut the hell up.

i never called Ngige an illiterate because there are some things i know about him personally that proves otherwise, however, if you are referring to the guy above with the most ridiculous post i ve ever read in years, trust me, it is only an illiterate that nurses such height of misconception and proud enough to throw it around for public consumption, no apologies for that.

suggesting he might be educated from my post is an over statement which contravenes my Magnanimity policy,
