A former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is once again calling for the sack of Stella Oduah, the serving aviation minister, after an IRS, plane yesterday made an emergency landing in Kaduna.
Fani, known for his controversial comments and articles took to twitter to say that, the crash landing of IRS plane is a warning and sign from God that the aviation minister should be removed.

This is coming after both Fani and Stella have been taking swipes at each other on social media over the Associated Airline crash.

FFK is taking this matter personal. Though the woman appears incompetent with the way she speaks in public. If I were GEJ I would sack her not because of the air disaster but because she cannot manage public opinion.

Personally he is barking up the wrong tree once again, the whole system need to be heavily audited and drastic actions taken on those found wanting. those to really bear the heat should be the head of those aviation units like FAAN, NAMA etc put the heat on them, threaten them with sack with out pension, then you will see the ensuring cleansing, whistle blowing and finger pointing that will occur and if we are sincere in changing the sector all the accusations should be investigated from the cleaners to the pane inspector through to the head of department and finally the minister. Any one of then that is indicted for complacency, incompetence, delay in decision making etc. should be given the boot.

In as much as the minster will not check these planes herself, she should hold those in charge of the erring facility make a scapegoat of a few people no matter how well connected they are, the next person to take over will sit up knowing he will be held unaccountable for failure in his department.

Shell, the oil company, if i recall correctly had a fire incident in one of their operations, after the investigation they not only sacked the those in the field directly responsible, thy sacked the supervisors, head of unit and even the manager of that department even though he was on leave when the incident occurred.
That is how they operate and still do, you will see their bosses worried if there is any minor activity, fervently praying for all to go well.

Anyway, I am where I will never need to take any Nigerian plane so fire on! So far as your tribes woman is aviation minister, it doesn't matter if people die or not on her watch! Some Nigerians are the most stup.id people you will ever find when religion and tribe is concerned. So the life of the retardeen flying a fleet of 10 private jets is > 170 M Nigerians, most of whom take the local flights? Let's analyze the whole aviation / air mishap ish and see where we can apportion blames

1. who is responsible for checking air worthiness of planes flying in Nigeria? NCAA

2. Who is responsible for monitoring and regulating our airspace? NAMA

3. Who do NAMA and NCAA report to? Due to amended act creating these important agencies, they were granted autonomy and hence report directly to Mr President .

4. What is the duty of the Aviation Ministry ? The primary agency under the aviation ministry is FAAN which are the managers and operators of the federal airports. Hence the aviation ministry is primarily saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that FAAN operates successfully and also create an enabling environment for investors in the aviation sector, hence providing jobs and revenue for the FG. In the process of creating an enabling environment, the aviation ministry is to provide necessary equipments and resources as required by NAMA and NCAA to enable them execute their regulatory duties.

5. Has the minister improved the status of FAAN which is her primary duty? We all know the ministry with her meagre resources is remodeling about 22 airports nationwide . Some have been completed and the earnings by FAAN in these airports before the remodeling have increased . A new national carrier with full private ownership will soon be launched and not only will it restore our pride, it will generate employment and additional revenue for FG.

6. Has NAMA and NCAA requested for any equipment or resources to do their regulatory job and was not provided by the aviation ministry ? Not heard or read anything as such.

7. Has the aviation ministry failed in their duties ? From the above it is safe to deduce that since she has performed satisfactorily in her primary and secondary duties, hence she hasn't failed .

8. Who should be blamed for regulatory and safety lapses ? NCAA and NAMA

9. Who is to be fired? .............You should be able to deduce that yourself .
