I want to teach you from the scratch how to develop a website using the most popular CMS_ Joomla.

I accidentally stumbled on Joomla some years ago; a client demanded a site requiring storing and retrieving data. I looked everywhere for who to teach me, I spent some good cash yet there were no results until I met a guy who casually showed me the prospects of Joomla and I learnt it on my own!

You may want to know, on what authority or experience I want to teach Joomla. Well, I've been using Joomla to develop websites for over 5yrs now and within this period; I've done over a hundred websites with Joomla only. During the course of the class, if requested, I'll give URLs of some of the sites I've done with Joomla.

Joomla is quite very easy to learn and deploy. Within 3hrs, you can get a Joomla site moderately running. So you don't need to be an experienced website developer to learn Joomla, newbies can deploy a Joomla site within a day.

Requirements to be in this class? None! Anyone who can read this post here and is willing to learn Joomla, can grasp it.

Please help, i created a student record system website using joomla (mini project), i created a form in the content using Html and sourcerer, it worked perfectly...my problem now is

1) it does not show a notification after filling the form and submitting

2) Data on the form when submitted does not reflect in the database.

All of that are functions of the extension. So you need to ensure that you search for an extension that does those your concerns.

J3.x:Extension won't install

Some extensions won't install on Joomla 3.4.0 giving an error of "No file selected. Unable to find install package"

Errors reported

"No file selected."
"Unable to find install package"

(Note that this error is very generic and can apply to many other issues. This is however the only UI error shown as a result of this issue that affects Joomla 3.4.0 ONLY)

Solution:

A quick workaround that worked for me, in case anyone has this problem until 3.4.1 comes out:

Unzip the extension to a folder, and then re-zip everything in that folder into a new zip using your favorite zip software. Install the new zip using the Joomla Extension Manager.

Templates are not like Components, Modules or Plugins that is meant for specific purpose or function.

You can use any template for any type of website, the only consideration here is, if the template matches the version of Joomla that you've installed.

For instance, I used a business template to build a real estate website http://NwokomaNwankwo.com.

The major reason why templates are meant for a particular purpose is when you download a template as a cloned version of a website. This means, all the core Joomla files, author's extensions, images, and videos are cloned as a "template". So as soon as you install it, you'll have a prototype of a functional website.

In a nutshell, any template can serve as a hospital/clinic template.

Thanks so much @ZinoFego for your timely replies. I am actually new to Joomla, infact I started learning Joomla through your tutorials here. Now I'm able to edit my organisation website which was build on joomla. Now another sister hospital wants something like ours, and I want to try my knowledge out.
