virtuoso01: With the current euphoria about BBM on Android and Iphone. New users are now in ecstasy and enjoying BBM Live on their devices.

I am also one of them but despite this euphoria a lot of questions have been bugging my mind and I think it is important that I ask them because I dont have answers to them:

(1). I hope that I can keep my BB Pin even if I change my Android phone. This was one of the reasons why I did not have a BB phone because you have to get a new Pin anytime you get a new phone which is like changing your home or office address every six months. I feel your BB Pin should be part of your identity just like your phone numbers and your name.

(2). Now that Android phones and Iphones officially have a kind of Blackberry feature in them I think it is also wise that our Nigerian network providers should also make internet plans on these devices very affordable and pocket friendly. Just like the Blackberry plans. Or what do you think?

Have been waiting for them to make this move but as you they keep waiting for who will bell the cat

(3). What is the future of other mobile IM services like WhatsApp, WeChat, Viber etc. Especially WhatsApp?.

Something tells me that if WhatsApp does not step up its game soon, they could well have an exodus on their hands.

Whatsapp is exceptionally cross platform for your info. Do you know how many millions of java phone user using whatsapp? Lest I mention windows os phones too. Bbm is only restricted to bb, android and ios. So, evidently, it is bbm that still needs to sit up in order to catch up with whatsapp (if it ever will).

people use java phones cos they have multiple sims and hardly subscribe to data plans.

- I cant share files

You've got valid points, but the bolded is not true.

Whatsapp is lighter and faster.

Even under a slow network condition, Whatsapp will still send and receive msgs. BBM will only send and receive when the network is fast enough. BBM doesn't even open sometimes unless network is good. More annoying, BBM doesn't deliver all messages you send under slow network.
So in case of urgency, I give it to Whatsapp.

You nailed it..Can't see why people would compare whatsapp to bbm, for me whatsapp is so dry and unfriendly. BBM rocks, you can share files,music,videos,voice notes as many as you can, its just that bbm has to increase the duration of active voice note messages and also increase the size of MB data you can share with your contacts...You can check in somewhere on facebook and also share it as your bbm status at the same time. I prefer to share my pin to someone I just met than releasing my number, because once I get pissed with you, its just to delete your ass and add you to my ignore list and that's it. But whatsapp is so annoying that you can still get calls from the person, so its even a waste of time to delete or block someone from your whatsapp list..I have both apps but I wake up to look at my bbm first before even remembering I have whatsapp on my phone. Most of my whatsapp contacts are now seriously downloading bbm and we now talk on bbm instead of whatsapp so people should accept the fact that bbm rocks and keep your fingers crossed for their updates which I know would come with so many features..BBM Fan

Sure some people steal ladies pin from other people's mobile, but its so easy to delete and ignore that person if you don't want the person on your list, he can keep adding you after you have successfully deleted him but you will never get a request from him because he has been transfered to your ignore list.

You can only see what one is watching or listening to, only if the box is checked for people to know and see what am listening else its not possible if the box is unchecked.

And whatsapp doesn't show location map and Timezone because some people lie alot with that but on bbm you can never lie and say you are in Canada,dubai,UK etc whereas you are behind iya basira buka in your village...

I wish there should be a way of personalising the BB pin so that the whole stuff about BBM will be more unique than ever. None the less, professional advice is highly needed. For the initiator, please press on to have a good head way on this matter.

Letting your contacts on bbm know what music ure listening to or what video ure watching on your phone is a feature that can be turned on or off in your bbm profile/settings....i dont see how that's a disadvantage

And as for the saying that "bbm only works with strong network",i dont quite agree with that.

Saying bbm only opens when there is network is what only android or iphones are facing...not blackberry phone users. For crying out loud,bbm on android and ios Is yet to receive its first major upgrade...Unlike the bbm on bb fones,which has received close to 15 upgrades...

Has Android considered user's back up? I mean something in form BB Desktop manager. Cus users wil need to back up their contacts t be fully safe.

Backing up of file's and other stuffs must be considered, as in Nokia PC Suit, Itunes and Blackberry Desktop Manager to propel adequate back-up of BBM contacts.

I have done that with different Blackberry Device. U can give it a try on your Techno or any device
